How often do Scouts get merit badge sashes? Whenever they are full? Or when they advance?
Driving event...
Hmmm... A neighbor took me to get the Tracker, and while we were stopped at a red light, checking traffic before making a right turn, the truck behind us honked.
It ticked off the neighbor, so she slowed so the truck could catch up with us. As she slowed, she said, “Watch this.”
When the truck got even with us, she flipped him off. I told her, “Don’t ever do that again when I’m riding in your car. Las Vegas is full of people with Road Rage, and you never know when someone is going to pull a gun on you and make you wish your bird finger had stayed home.”
Man, that irritated me! I don’t think she’s all there. There are a few other people here in the few buildings in the parking area that need brain transplants. It would seem I missed out on a lot while I was house-sitting!
Cheated death again! It would have been awful to die in a catastrophic Elen Driving Incident when we hadn’t found anything good at the new Goodwill store. Maybe another time ...
I’m glad Mr. Bill is running again. Sally is in the doghouse for unauthorized sneakified computer usage again, so I sent her out popcorn selling with James and Vlad again.
Time for me to start supper!
What kind of vehicle uses a distributor these days?
I have no clue about new vehicles. The one that needed the distributor is a ‘92 Geo Tracker, 4X4.
The price was right, and I don’t commute, so it’s perfect for me!
I think that’s a Suzuki G13 engine. Is it a 16 valve? If so, you should have the timing belt replaced if it has more than 60-70 thousand miles on it and it’s never been changed.
Um...golly...I don’t have a Haines manual, and it only has a four cylinder engine, and I’m sure the mechanic checked out everything that could have caused the problem.
He did indicate that the distributor was a problem with that particular vehicle, so having it replaced is a good thing.
At least now, I don’t have to walk to Walmart...
Boy Scouts get a marriage badge sash after earning their first three badges. After that, they keep it for the rest of their Scoutly life, unless it gets worn out or outgrown. Tom outgrew his original one and I had to move his badges!
I got Pat a large one and took it up several inches, or it would have reached his knees. We can let it out when he gets taller.
That’s funny...I never got a marriage badge, and I worked really hard at it! LOL!
Sorry, TC! I couldn’t resist!
Pat will probably be as tall as Epic Fail, but slender like Inert the Elusive one. Speaking of whom...how does he like his job?
LOL!
I don’t think Pat will even reach Bill’s height. He’s in the 10th percentile for boys his age. James has passed him, and it’s possible Vlad will: he’s tall for 7. But he’ll get lots of badges!
Inert doesn’t like his job much, but he likes his pay, and he seems to be putting in a good effort. He got a “Good Work!” report at his 6-week evaluation. He’s been off this week and (hopefully) working hard at Chemistry. He’ll work Friday and Saturday, and then I don’t know about the week beginning Sunday.
If by this you mean, do you have young people coming and going at all hours? The answer is yes.
It's where I got the idea that three habitats in space would be on different time zones.
Yes, I was replying to 3315. [smiles]
I found a formula once upon a time, to gauge the potential height of a person based on the height of the baby at the age of two years. I used it on Hockeybughow, and I was almost floored to learn the answer was 6’4”. His height now? 6’ 4”, minus the wear and tear on the bones by his age.
He was a lot like Pat...skinny and short...for the LONGEST time. Even when he reached 17, he was only eye-to-eye with me and I’m 5’9”. So don’t scratch Pat off the Tall Chart just yet!
Having money one doesn’t have to beg for from Mom and Dad, or siphon off from the “inheritance” is a good thing. Once I learned my skills were worth something to someone else, I suddenly LOVED my job!
However, I was always trying to improve myself, and move on to bigger and better things. Which is probably why the supervisors in the county job I held tried so hard to get rid of me.
If Inert is unhappy with his job, he should learn all he can about moving onward and upward, and what skills he will need, regardless of the area of employment. People skills are ALWAYS good to have.
So are math, organization and filing. :o])
The problem with having “people skills” is that eventually you end up having to deal with people.
You don’t miss much, do you? LOL!
No wonder I like you...you would be a good candidate for a member of my family!
:o]
What a revoltin’ development THAT is!
I eschew developing people skills so that, in any employment situation, they’ll have to put me directly into management.
There was a time when I wanted nothing more than to sit in my cubicle with reams of monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual tax-return data, turning all those numbers into tidy forms for 50 states, the District of Columbia, and every pathetic freepin town in Kentucky.
Now, however, I appreciate my forays into the real world of Walmart, my church, and Weight Watchers meetings, because the people at my job site complain all the time and throw things and can’t go to the bathroom on their own.
And here I thought you were the lucky one!
LOL!
How long will the Scouts be selling popcorn? I’ve run into them several times, but since I seldom carry cash, I’ve told them “no thanks.”
And I don’t have a checking account because I need someone else to do my math, so I will need cash to pay for the popcorn to help with the equipment they need.
Tomorrow, early, I am going to get new wiper blades. They are a little more spendy than I expected, but it would seem there is rain in the forecast, and the ones on Mr. Bill are really inadequate. The ones I have picked out have double blades, so that should help a lot with the gully washers we tend to have.
I suspect next year at this time, I will be looking for new tires, but Pep Boys always seems to have a good sale when I need one, and I will need all four tires. I haven’t had a good look at the spare, but it can remain a spare if it is good enough.
Our calendar says, “Final orders due from units, 11/25.” Deliveries beginning Dec. 8.
