Saw it last night. Couldn't make sense of certain aspects of it until I realized they're telling the 9/11 truther plot that Bush planned everything. (Spoilers ahead with plot details revealed)
I’m just sick and tired of hollywood indoctrinating my kids through tv shows, movies and stars. Taking 4 teens to a 3D movie is expensive and I don’t intend to have my political beliefs jabbed at by a bunch of liberals hiding behind an iconic sci-fi movie.
We’re skipping “The Great Gatsby” too. I don’t intend to give one penny to Leonardo DiCaprio. Flaunting your politics has consequences. My two cents may not amount to much but I’m sure other parents feel the same way. If my teens want to go see those movies they’ll have to pay for it out of their own pockets.
Well conspiracy dribble does make an entertaining FICTIONAL movie,..
Aw crap...
I really liked the first one. I NEVER see movies multiple times in the theater yet I paid three times to see the first one. We have the movie poster on the wall of our game room. We bought a BlueRay player to play the disk in BlueRay. To say I had high hopes for the second installment would be an understatement.
What is sad is that when word of this gets out, people like me will be less inclined to shell out their hard earned bucks to see it in theaters. They will blame it on the franchise and any hope of a new ST television series will be dead.
Idiots. They just couldn’t help themselves.
Are you going to be doing the television listing for it as well?
BTW thanks for taking this over.
I’m shocked. Just shocked. Yet another reason why this is Faux Trek.
Apparently not, CC, apparently not.
GG, as a boring book and all the movies made have been boring.
If you take a movie set in the ‘20s and have Jay-Z and Beyonce do the music......you are already dead in the water.
At the risk of sounding hokey, I am going to venture it was American Exceptional-ism that kept the towers standing for so long. They were extremely well made, plain and simple.
Of course, that's why George Bush had to have them demolished with explosives :-)
Just movies and books right now, but if you want me to ping something let me know.
The message of most movies is “gimme money”. Of course all plot ares interpretable, and if they’re at all well written you’ll always be able to find real world parallels, but that’s not necessarily a message, it’s the result of realism.
First, he is not a Junior. That would be Al Gore.
Why NOT dedicate the movie to the post 9-11 veterans? And really how is this dedication:
THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO OUR POST-9/11 VETERANS
WITH GRATITUDE FOR THEIR INSPIRED SERVICE ABROAD
AND CONTINUED LEADERSHIP AT HOME.
trutherism?
As for why it wasn’t done in the first maybe JJ wasn’t involved with that charity then. It was only founded 2 years before that movie came out. Now he’s quite involved in it, gave stuff to their charity auctions.
No no no..
Bush had the detonation charges placed in the towers to blow them up to cover up the fact that the planes were being flown with remote controls.
Or was it he deliberately flew the planes into the buildings to cover up the demolition charges...
I can never keep those stories straight...
A few years ago one of the networks did an expose on the possibility of the buildings being exploded by detonation devices and other truther idiocies. What was exploded was all the truther theories. For one thing, there’s no way the teams of explosive experts needed to detonate the building could have managed to enter the buildings and do the necessary work without thousands of people noticing them. That and other disproved screwball truther theories was thrown back in their faces by the show’s producers. The truth didn’t faze the truthers one bit. They stood behind their cockamamie theories to the bitter end.
This series was going to go down fast when they keep pushing nuSpock actor’s fetish behavior on the public. He has no credibility as a spock.
The could have gone to any convention to obtain the same or better acting.
Redoing wrath of kahn as an msnbc children’s special is pathetic.
Abrams does not write, he just re-edits old episodes into new sequences.
This is probably why they show the blond in undergarments in the commercials. it is that bad they have to resort to “boobies” to sell the boobs.
Q: One of the big themes of Star Trek Into Darkness is terrorism, and its what a lot of soldiers abroad are battling right now. The villain, John Harrison, is a terrorist, but hes not a black-and-white character. Why did you decide to take on this theme?
A: The idea was, as much as we could, to tell a story where the bad guy was not just larger than life and not just terrifying but also oddly resonant and relevant. We didnt strategize from the outside in to depict something that was actually happening, but we felt it feels like something that is scary to us. This was something that made us uncomfortable. So, approaching this from the view of creating a bad guy that somehow connects to the life that we live was the thing that was one of our guiding principles. [Harrison] clearly has a hyper-real backstory, but the unfortunate reality is that were living in a time when its not entirely clear where the next threat will come from and where the next act of violence will take place.
Q: Its also not as black-and-white as some think.
A: Once you get into it, you find yourself questioning not just the agenda or motivations of the person, but you find yourself questioning larger things like What are the rules? How far should we go to prevent things like this? When do we become as dangerous as those were trying to stop? What happens when the rules you need to follow are immoral, or at least questionable? There are a lot of themes that come up about loyalty, responsibility, and family in this film, and that was really interesting to me.

It's a Bush Bash but go fund it if you wish.
