Refuse to answer the door?
This is unacceptable. These officers should be charged with breaking and entering, assault and battery, and civil rights violations. Not only should they loose their jobs, they should go to jail.
Lock your door, call your lawyer and put him on speaker phone. Loudly inform the police that you do not consent to a search of your property without a warrant. Advise them that it is a Title 18 section 1983 violation to deprive someone of their rights under the color of law.
Sue the officers individually, file charges, sue the department if they violate your rights.
How about building a secluded compound, well off the beaten path, where you don't bother anyone and you can just be left alone. I suggest places like Idaho or perhaps Waco, TX.......never mind.
check this out in my home state the peoples republic of NY
GUN GRAB IN FULL SWING, DUTCHESS MAN ARRESTED FOR HAVING 9 BULLETS
Ramirez’ cartoon this morning was perfect -
Obama giving a commencement speech in which he says “reject the voices warning of government tyranny, or else you’ll be audited”.
exactly right
"the man responds that he doesnt live in a police state with martial law.
How's that working out for you?
and how many people have a lawyer?
and if they do, how many of them have one that answers his phone directly when you are in trouble in trouble, usually in the off hour?
What you should do in a case like this:
1. Demand to see a warrant.
2. If they fail to produce one, have someone in your household call 911 and report that armed gunmen, perporting to be law enforcement officers are attempting to break into your house. State that they are not producing proper identification or authorization, and that for that reason you suspect they are imposters. And tell the 911 operator to tell the responding officers to be careful because you believe these individuals are dangerous.
“Officer, you wouldn’t shoot a guy holding a hand grenade, would you?”
He only thought he didn't live in a police state.
Don’t live in the Police State of California.
I agree it’s unacceptable but given the guy’s demeanor i wonder why they were called in the first place. I’d guess it was probably a loud argument / domestic dispute that got out of hand and some neighbor called it in. The guy was in violation of POPO (pissed off police officer) which is why i think the police officer kicked the door in. The officers will probably try to claim exigent circumstances made them enter into the residence but it won’t work as the female wasn’t acting like she was under duress by the guy and it’s clearly on tape. Expect a wrist slap (one day suspension with no pay probably) and retraining on constitutional law pertaining to the 4th Amendment.
They won't be charged, they won't lose their jobs, and they won't go to jail. They knew that, so that's why they felt free to act as they did.
Being belligerent is not wise, because it just raises temperatures unnecessarily. Being calm is always best, whatever you do end up saying.
Being calm also makes it easier to,win any potential lawsuits.
Don’t get mad. Get even. There are a whole bunch of things one could do if they knew the full names of the officers involved. There are a multitude of government agencies that will respond in a heartbeat given the right anonymous claim.
...and be ready for them to knock down your door.
