Barack Obama has issued a scathing rebuke to the US Senate, calling it "shameful" after lawmakers rejected a bipartisan measure to expand the scope of background checks for gun buyers in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings.
Speaking at the White House, the president said the Senate members had decided it "wasn't worth it" to save children's lives through stricter gun control.
He also railed against the National Rifle Association, saying the gun lobby and its allies "willfully lied" to its constituents about the contents of the bill in order to defeat it.
"All in all this is a pretty shameful day for Washington," Mr Obama said.
Even though Wednesday's vote was on a bipartisan compromise, it fell short of the 60 votes it needed to pass the Senate.
Also speaking at the White House, Sandy Hook parent Mark Barden, who lost his son Daniel on December 14, said the bill's failure would not stop him and others from fighting for limits on firearms.....

It’s interesting to note that Dear Leader King Zero is more upset about not getting to trample our Constitutional rights than he was about the Boston Marathon bombing.
I just wish someone somewhere would publicly say something to King Barry’s face to the effect that 3000 children are slaughtered each and every day, and ask him why he doesn’t give a **** about those children?
It’s a testimonial to the integrity of conservatives that by their opposition to abortion, they are attempting to save the lives of future Democrat voters.

One victory in one political battle. The fight is ongoing. The advocates of gun control and those who want to “transform” America into a banana republic will never stop. So, we cannot rest. The next major political battle will be immigration reform. We have to stop that next.

Even if you want to accept this charge at face value (which I don't), is it any different than willfully lying to get ObamaCare passed? All the alleged "lies" the Left denied during that debate are proving to be true, one by one, from higher taxes to death panels to cost overruns.
So if the NRA "willfully lied" about gun control legislation, are they any less truthful than Obama during the health care debate?
