Destroy Marco Rubio

Barack Obama's 2012 Presidential campaign was described succinctly in this term:

"Destroy Mitt Romney"

Never mind ideas or themes. Just destroy him. Thanks to the left's intellectual deficit, it worked.

Thing is, it's not over. There's always someone new in the GOP to destroy and today it's Marco Rubio, despite the pleadings of David Ignatius of the Washington Post.

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Marco Rubio has been designated as the Republican respondent, right, which is pretty smart I guess because he's the hot hand. Immigration jumps right out at that guy when you see him. He's Cuban-American, he’s talked on the issue. Will the president stick it to him and say, “I'm going to be good on immigration, you guys are going to have to handle the issue?”

DAVID IGNATIUS, WASHINGTON POST: Well, I think he's going to make immigration one of the issues he talks about in the State of the Union. The State of the Union is good, but here are the things we need to do. He’s going to talk about immigration reform, he's going to talk about climate change. He's going to certainly talk about bringing the troops home from the wars. I think he'll announce a number of troops that will be withdrawn.

But, you know, the Marco Rubio question gets to whether Obama can get out of the zero sum game Washington where to do something good on immigration reform, he's got to, you know, destroy Marco Rubio who is the Republican symbol of progress on that. And I'm looking to see whether he can lift his game beyond where he was in his inaugural address and really speak to the country, speak to the people who didn't vote for him as well as the people who did, and have a platform for really doing something.

Marco Rubio delivered the GOP rebuttal to Barack Obama's horribly repetitive State of the Union address, in which he said pretty much the same hollow and meaninginless things he's said over the last five years.

But then Rubio made a terrible mistake. He took a sip of water. Now anyone with half a brain knows that listening to an Obama speech can drain you of energy and vitality, but that did not stop the Obama State Run Media. They sprang into action to implement the words of their king- to destroy Rubio.

The personal attacks work. Even Repubs will fall for them. They'll back away from the person targeted and look for someone with less “baggage”.

Rubio is not my favorite Repub. But I'm not going to let the press make up my mind about him either for or against.

Once they've destroyed one, they move on to the next. There will never be a Repub or conservative without “baggage”. Whoever you support, if they are viewed as a threat to the Dems or to the establishment, they will be hit with a mudstorm and weaker souls will be looking for a place to hide and looking for that mythical candidate who doesn't have “baggage”... that is, someone who hasn't been targeted yet.

One more thing. I remember the moment the Dem establishment decided to drop Howard Dean as their flag-bearer. They seized on his exuberant “whoop” and suddenly he was dead to them. And everyone accepted that the scream was the reason he dropped into the abyss rather than notice the more ominous truth: the word went out that he was done, and lock-step and with absolute unanimity, all the press organs in America agreed instantly and with identical cover stories.

Who has that power?

Obama is a black magician, using hate, lies and death to rule and ruin America. Only God and His love, truth and life can overcome the unclean spirits of human nature.

Marco Rubio 2016.

Out of 300 million people, you want a candidate who is not even eligible. Good Lord our country is done with low information voters.

Well put. But you need to add that the GOP itself has often been complicit in these campaigns of destruction. When Palin and her family were being raked over by blown-up distractions and outlandish smears, the GOP establishment not only didn’t lift a finger, but joined right in.

I’ve always been vacilating back-and-forth in regards to the reasoning for this. On one hand, was it just sheer cowardice in the face of the massive liberal-media complex? Or, was it because they view such small-government outsider/reformers as an enemy that needs to be eradicated from the political field the same way their Dem bretheren do? Maybe, and most likely, a bit of both. Whichever the case, the GOP sure comes out looking horribly.

When it comes to Rubio, I’m inclined to expect a rallying to him by the GOP, not so much to combat the vile unfairness in this attempt to delegitimize him, but because Rubio himself is no danger to the establishment. Since his election, he continually distanced himself from the tea-party and cozied up to the McCain crowd, and now adding his amnesty views, Rubio himself is now part and parcel of the beltway power establishment.

That is actually my view of him as well.
