While the title says it all, I thought a goodbye was in order.
While I've been a FReeper for well over a decade, I must declare that it is time to part ways. While I have the greatest respect for a great many of you, the days where I can in good conscience remain silent about the issues that set me apart from the rest of FReeperdom have past. For clarity, or perhaps catharsis, I'm not entirely certain which, I'll lay them out on the table an call the ZOT down upon myself.
The racism: I just can't handle it anymore. FR has become increasingly racist since President Obama took office, and enforcement has dropped. Now, not a single crime can be reported with an "amish" comment, and I've yet to see a post express embarrassment or shame when lo and behold sometimes the perpetrators turned out to be lily white.
Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I'll just leave it at that.
Mostly though, it's the hate. More and more posts reference violent solutions to political disagreements. Some subtly couched, others make no pretense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I read in the morning paper that a FReeper murdered a federal bureaucrat or a federal judge.
I've learned so much, from so many of you, and for that I'm grateful. I genuinely and truly wish all of you well, and sincerely hope you all live out the rest of your lives in happiness.

Then mash that 'abuse' button and let the mods know. They can't be everywhere.
"NO racism or violence in posts." is the rule, as I understand it.

How can we go on??
I, being cowardly and soft, tend to agree on the violence tall. Although really it’s meaningless internet chest thumping. That goes for most of the grandstanding, childishness, outright illiteracy, etc. But what can you do in the dirt of this, only the most recent of Western civilization’s “vast wastelands.” The racism thing I wouldn’t single out. Racism is not especially bad, not worse than any other gross stereotypes and barbarisms. That goes for all the isms, too.
Anyway, about the violence. I shrug it off as juvenile and speech born of impotent desperation merely. Then I think of the Revolution, the Whiskey Rebellion, and all the other rebellions. What pin pricks motivated our forebears to bloodiness compared to our gushing neck wounds! Leave aside the Civil War. It could win the argument on its own, but we don’t need it. I don’t even want to go down the list. You know it: conscription, foreign wars unrelated to defense or security, income tax, death tax, the Fed, endless bailouts, endless emergency powers, cradle to grave welfare, crushing debt, fiat currency, wage and price controls, the War on Drugs, eminent domain, property forfeiture, internment camps, administrative law, the revenoors, Bonus Army, Kent Stare, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Elian Gonzales, blah, blah, blah.
Why did we declare independence in the first place? Oh yeah, the British, our legitimate government, wanted to tax us to pay for the French and Indian War. Also because they fumbled the political response to protest movements, but mostly because we were sick of being a cog in their mercantilist system. This with the highest standard of living in the world and, like, a one percent :ax burden. And we fought a WAR over it! A real one.
Our government does worse stuff to us every single day than the British did to their colonists across years. Either our forefathers were monstrous, extremist, bloodthirsty diehard zealots who oughtta be condemned instead of celebrated, or we are sheep.
We are sheep.
As far as his ethnicity goes, I will now include the famous line from Seinfeld, “not that there's anything wrong with that”.
Better we go with the Liberal model, using the terms Uncle Tom and House Nigger while throwing OREO Cookies at Black Republicans. FR, it's kind of like the KKK you know. Geez. One other thing, did Melas just insinuate that a FReeper would attempt to Assassinate a Politico? FReepers know that any violence coming from our side, real or imagined, would be used as Propaganda against us. We leave the Violence to the Leftists, who of course never get blamed for anything.
I don't agree at all, the Amish statements were obvious attempts at sarcasm....totally harmless, meaningless, nonsense!
By the way Melas, that will be 5 cents for my last post. Cash only please.
Please tell me if you find TRUTH somewhere else. Really, I do want to know.
Set one less plate for breakfast.

Most of the BEST laughs I have in life, come from right here on the FR forums ;^)
And there's also a reminder to not use profanity. DADGUMMIT!
The Taliban are anything but conservatives.
To equate the two in any way is inexcusable.
Conservatives want to live according to the American Constitution NOT the koran. The two are not too closely related and our Forefathers meant for them not to be.
America has never been as you described and never will be. The “The American Ayatolla” is a figment of Heinlein’s fertile imagination.
Take something away from this forum, please (beside your toys.) Joking aside this time. Take an awareness of how the Left controls the language, and through that, controls the debate, and controls your approach to issues, your focus, your very thoughts and opinions. Because from reading your opus I conclude that it is something that you are missing, and, heck, you’re not the only one among us. Abortion is not “choice”, and pederasty is not “gay”, start from that.
Good night.
You are right, of course. When I’ve seen these things, I suppose I assume the Mods see them too. But, that is just an excuse, and you’re point is taken. I don’t think we should lose people over the dumb posts, and I will push that button in the future.
Whatever NOOB. Adios and IBTZ.
As (almost) always, you nailed it again. Huzzah!
Good night.
And to you as well. And remember to please do not turn off your computer. :-)
Cooks know the difference.

“Taliban” means religious in the same way all religious people are religious, only a little more./s
Seriously, though, I tire easily of political religiosity, especially among our side with some born agains’ imperialist foreign policy. But the idea that there could be an American Taliban. Have you seen tv, for instance, ever turned on the radio or looked out a window, even? Not that there couldn’t be a reaction. But I find it slightly less likely than constitutional government falling to a martian invasion.
That term I threw out, reaction, may be a bit misleading. For should there be a theocratic revolution it’ll almost certainly be leftist, just like the Ayatollian revolution. The other kind is highly unlikely. If that’s confusing, it’s because leftists control our historical imagination to a startling degree, and people have forgotten the difference. See the great little book “The Lost Literature of Socialism.”
I hope not, I’m for adhering to the Constitution, as best as we are able to so that’s why I lean libertarian on many things. Put it this way, I don’t want to be ruled by either an Obama nor a Jerry Falwell.
