Russia Bans US Adoptions (Satire)
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 28 Dec 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 12/29/2012 8:35:07 AM PST by John Semmens

The Russian legislature passed and President Vladimir Putin signed a bill banning the adoption of Russian children by U.S. Families.

In a signing statement President Putin asserted that “we cannot continue to subject the fruit of Russian loins to lives of degradation and depravity in an immoral society. Not only is the culture permeated with filth that poses as art, but the physical safety of the children is not even protected in the schools. For us to continue acquiescing to these adoptions would make us knowing accomplices in the criminal abuse of these children.”

A secondary concern cited by Putin was “the looming economic hardships that will befall most American families in the months and years to come. The government is accumulating debts it cannot repay. Bankruptcy and currency collapse are inevitable. The Obama Administration’s insistence on pursuing the same types of socialist policies that wrecked the Soviet Union augur a bleak future—one to which we cannot in good conscience allow to be inflicted on our children.”

US Presidential Press Secretary Jay Carney said “the President is a bit miffed by Putin’s blunt assault on American culture, but not overly concerned about the effects. Those negatively affected by the ban on adoptions are mostly the rich—people who generally have done less than their fair share of human suffering. So there is an element of inadvertent equity in the move.”

Carney pointed out that “it’s not as if those blocked by the Russian legislation are without recourse. There will still be plenty of non-white babies they can buy from China or Africa. In fact, obtaining a child from these other sources might help them overcome some of the ingrained racism that dominates this segment of our society.”

There were nearly 1,000 adoptions of Russian orphans and unwanted babies by American parents last year. The measure puts an end to that option for those desperately seeking to become parents.

So one must assume that if Putin wants to save Russian children from "lives of degradation and depravity" in an immoral and unsafe society, he will now enthusiastically address the problem of Russian children stranded in orphanages because no Russian families want them. Many of these children are being sought after by American couples for adoption.

When Russia says we are too socialistic, we are really in trouble.

somehow I can’t see this topic as satire

have 2 kids adopted from Russian and during process visited many many unforunates held in various institutions and met some wonderfaul warm Russians (social workers, medical professionals, orphanage directors, judge) who were grateful that our adopted kids would get families, educations, and the medical treatment and therapies they desperately needed

I want to see how many orphans Putin adopts, assuming he is finished siring bastards with his latest gymnast mistress

The source of this article is Semi-News/Semi-Satire. It's a comedy site.

I sure wish people who post articles from this site would make it clear that it's comedy, not news. More than once my blood pressure has gone through the roof, only later did I realize that I was reading a comedy piece!

I know the story, somehow the above is almost believable.
The Russian Mindset is a mystery to me.

I do admire Putin. I’m not saying that he is our friend nor should we cave to him, but he does seem to have Russia’s best interest at heart unlike Bronco Bama. I even add that maybe some of his methods are questionable at best but the way we are headed, I’d take a pro U.S. version of Putin over the Kenyan Usurper anyday.

Yeah, it’s a pretty dirty deal in which the children become a pawn in these political games. Putin is a heartless person, but then he’s a politician. A Soviet politician at that.

BTW, I know the story is satire, but I just wanted to share my general thoughts on Putin.

the kids adopted by Americans must by Russian law have been offered unsuccessfully to Russian families for over a year

they (Russians) list their little faces in the regional newspapers, like ads for pets

in one Russian winter when supplies slowed down to the Far East the kids in my son’s “baby house” were kept alive by sugar water and shared food brought in by desperately poor orphanage workers. That is why he weighed 25 pounds when we adopted him at age 5.

any child over age 5 with a handicap (physical or mental) is consigned to what they call “imbecile asylums”. I remember being so moved by a medical missionary group in Irkustk desparately trying to find a home for a 4 year old girl who was born missing 3 limbs, of normal intelligence, who was condemned to be sent to a mental institution

By age 10 or 11 many of the orphanage kids able to run away do so, and end up selling themselves on the streets, dying early from drugs and diseases like AIDS. I have seen them.

This is Russia’s great shame. A 3/4 milion population of permanent underclass unwanted children warehoused in a variety of institutions. How long do you think it will take pootie to dedicate the funding to set up a foster system capable of replacing these grim human warehouses?

I was surprised to learn that U.S. only adopts about 1,000 Russian kids annually. I know of at least a dozen myself.

Yeah, Russians have a long history ofrulers who have “Russia’s” best interest at heart

Like Stalin and Ivan the Great. Putin may just follow their mold.

It’s just those pesky inconvenient individual humans who get in the way of the best interest of the Motherland and the Collective.

Got to break some eggs, you know

The adoption system slowed way down in recent years

The hurdles grew higher and steeper and more numerous and the costs skyrocketed. Round trip tickets to Russia purchased with less than a week’s notice - check out the prices. Most adoptions now required 3 trips by the families

It us what it is. There is no comparison between the way chldren without families, especially those with special needs or of mixed race, are treated in the US, vs China and Russia
