I would like to enlist the services of the Prayer Warriors for the grandson of a little girl who lived in my neighborhood when I was growing up. She's obviously not so little now, but is in need of your prayers.
Keegan James Dondlinger was born yesterday, November 23, 2012, but was due March 4, 2013, three days after my own grandson is due. He weighed 1.85 lbs, but he looks very well developed for being so young and so little.
He's been able to open his eyes, and to grasp his mother's finger.
Hey just saw that congratulations are in order here GRAMPA! Congrats! Aren’t these youngens just the BEST?!?
Yep. Thank you Mom. Got a text today from my daughter with a short video. Poor little guy had the hiccups. But he's looking good. Has his eyes open more of the time than earlier. They have been letting him lay in the sun (through the window), sans clothes, to prevent jaundice. We did the same with her when she was a newborn, but she had actually was a little jaundiced.
The exact same as my grandson Oscar James' birth weight. Well it was several hours after he was born that the nurse midwives got around to weighing him... with a fish scale and a sling. They do things a bit differently for home births. :)
From Monday, 18 Feb. :
Last we checked he was 6lbs 12oz still bouNcing betweeN 12.5 aNd 25% O2 and arouNd 10-20ml wheN he takes a bottle. They giving him a few more days to progress oN feeding otherwise its lookiNg pretty likely he will get a gbutton. Getting aNother head ultrasound today to check how hiS shunt is doing
And then from today, 21 Feb:
So just got off the phone with Coventry and not only did the UNMC case manager pull some strings and get him a pediatrician instead of a family practitioner, she got him the exact same pediatrician his cousins go to.
All I have to say is:
GO KEEGAN GO!
GROW KEEGAN GROW!
Although he seems be doing pretty well on the growing. What a tough little guy!
I just had a thought too. Maybe Keegan James and Oscar James can meet someday. Wouldn't be too surprising. Oscar's folks like to travel, and two of his Great Grandmas do live in the same state as Keegan, with my Mom being in the same city.
Congrats all around, ElGato!!! Thanking God for a safe delivery and healthy baby boy.
A video even! Love this technology. Sunlight is great to handle that yellowish hue. Glad all are doing so well.

Happy to get an update on Keegan. Sounds like good progress. God continue to watch over him.
Conratulations!!! So happy for you, and it sounds like our other baby is coming along; the G tube is a good thing if it gets him home sooner.
G-Button surgery went well, they are planning on starting to use it tomorrow. So now we hope he heals well from that, and that he can lose the "whiff" of O2 now that his nose will be clear.
Oh, and just throwing it out there in case we weren't clear before: G-Button is NOT permanent, and we will continue to bottle feed him as much as he allows even with the button in place. Hopefully he will pick up on bottle feeding and can get the button removed in a few weeks/months. If not it is still entirely possible that he will eat solid foods normally and we could remove it then.

Praise the Lord for good news...and thanks for keeping us updated! :)
Excellent good news update. Thanks El Gato.
Continuing prayers.

Everyone will be glad when little guy is home.((((Hugs))))
Funny you should say that. :)
Got another update this morning, from Keegan's Mom,as most of them have been.
Let's see... Keegan has been off oxygen as of 330 am and has as of yet to get his feedings restarted. At 9 o'clock "cares" found out he is getting on a 4 hour schedule and that Wednesday or Thursday they are gonna do monitor training with me and then room in soon there after. If all goes to plan keegan could be busting out in a wk or so.

:)
I missed the earlier update, so was delighted to see this today. I’ve had Baby Keegan in my nightly prayers since last Nov. and am delighted to hear of his progress——and to put a sweet face to his name. Thank you so much! Prayers continue.
