Yesterday I walked 2.2 miles around the Silver Lake Reservoir in Los Angeles. A nice walk in a pleasant upscale L.A. neighborhood with many fine and interesting homes. But there is more to Silver Lake than just that. It also just happens to be one of the most radical Left politically conscious neighborhoods in all of L.A. So much so that entire book was written about the political culture of this far Left bastion entitled, Bohemian Los Angeles. I used to live in the neighborhood so I am extremely familiar with its far Left political activism.
But here is the part of the story which may be of some interest. On my walk yesterday I counted NOT ONE SINGLE Obama yard sign, NOT ONE!!!! This is a dramatic departure from four years ago. Walking around this neighborhood you would not even know that a major presidential election is just one week away. Yes, I did count a couple of Obama bumper stickers, but that was all, once again NOTHING compared to four years ago. Among the many walkers and joggers I noticed NO ONE wearing Obama tee shirts or campaign buttons. NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH. Again a dramatic departure from four years ago.
I am not saying the residents of Silver Lake are going to vote for Romney. I am saying there is no noticeable or observable enthusiasm for Obama in one of the most intensely Left-wing strongholds in all of Los Angeles. This is not a good sign for Democrats.
I am going to take a guess that even left wing Democrats resent being called racist just because they don’t agree with everything Obama has done.
What sticks with me is that as much as 45% of our population still supports Obama. I know a good number of them are probably naive or still young and indoctrinated by educators, but the huge number of people who support Obama for a more sinister reason is troubling.
The Rats spent all their money on negative ads in OHIO...no money left for yard signs in CA.
Whatever.
As long as a lot less of them come out to vote this cycle, I’m ok with that.
I thought the percentage was 47, not 45. “;^)
“What sticks with me is that as much as 45% of our population still supports Obama.”
They SAY they support Obama. Saying and supporting are two different things.
I’m sensing a landslide, and I think the numbers who actually vote for 0 will be significantly less than is projected. Of course, even 25% voting for this disaster of a president causes me some concern...
Same thing in NYC. Compared to 4 years ago its crazy. There is nothing here are all. ZILCH. You would not even know the election is next week.
I remember the scene at our local Chick-fil-a and hope all of those folks vote.
I believe the enthusiasm is exceedingly high or our side, not so much on theirs.
However, there is the issue of how the votes are counted. Equally important to how they are cast and I trust no one in authority right now.
The Rats have PLENTY of resources in CA. They have the unions, the big donors, Hollyweird....trust me in CA the Dems have plenty of resources.....it is the state GOP which is run a shoestring. I went into the Pasadena GOP HQ just last week asking for a yard sign, they wanted a donation for $13.00.

Yep, there are always the two types of leftist/liberal -
the sheeperals who want to get something from society without a lot of effort on their part,
and the hardcore control freak collectivists (communists) who take advantage of them in order to gain power over others.
My dear wife is expecting the worst.
No matter how the polls look, she says - I think he’s going to steal it.
Obama has had to open a storefront campaign office in Dormont, PA, a streetcar suburb of Pittsburgh that has probably not voted less than 70% Democrat since the Charleston was in vogue. He is goin’ DOWN!
I live in upstate N.Y. and can say that it’s a very similar situation here. In 2008 there were Obama bumper stickers, yard signs, and people wearing Obama T-shirts. This election year there are NO Obama yard signs out (I did notice one last week, but it’s gone now), and I haven’t seen one Obama bumper sticker. I don’t imagine that Romney will carry New York State, but many will see a completely different vote count this election year in New York State. I believe that Romney will carry upstate and lose the large city vote, which is understandable (ie. EBT cards,Obama phones & dependency programs). I believe that the final numbers from the election will even surprise the “in the tank for Obama” media. They are all going to have a hard time getting over this tragic loss. Many are going to need therapy to deal with their deep depression.
Same is true in CA. Last Saturday the LA Times came out with their statewide poll for CA. It showed Obama leading Romney by 14 points——this might seem terrible to some, but when you consider that Obama defeated McCain by 24 points in CA in 2008, even the Times Poll shows an ENORMOUS drop in support for Obama. I think if the election were held right now, Obama would probably when CA by about 10 points.
There's a reason for that. Those of us who have donated as generously as possible to the CA GOP in the past have been double-crossed by the RINOs who run it. I now donate directly to conservative candidates instead.
Since the city is currently under water, transportation like the subway system not supposed to be functioning for possibly a week, do you think that this will impact the vote coming out of NYC?
Many school, typically polling places, may not open for a week.
My mom was telling me yesterday about going to the grocery store in Indio. She said that the Hispanic (the majority in her community) checker was complaining about a smaller paycheck due to increased healthcare premiums. “That’s our food budget,” he kept saying, “Mexicans aren’t stupid.” He claims that no one in his family is voting O.
She then overheard another Hispanic conversation going the same way. She was so excited. “Two in one day!” she tells me.
Los Angeles and San Francisco voting just messes everything up for the rest of us.
