I am running XP on my PC. 1-2 times a day Firefox crashes my PC. Sometimes I get a happy "Firefox has crashed. Would you like to try it again?" box. Sometimes I get no notification, just a blank screen and then a reboot.
Can anyone help with solving this problem?
Thanks.
What version of Firefox?
Some versions were susceptible to crashes.
I use Firefox on an XP machine and it never crashes.
I’m not a techie, so, the only thing I can think of is if you’re using the latest release, which is 16.0.1.
You might try here:

Good luck.
Go into “options” and disable Java, if you have it enabled.
I am running 16.0.1.4666.
What version XP? What version Java?
Have you looked in the System Events / Application Events logs?
Have you searched for a Dr Watson entry?
Their are many add-ons to stop marketing to you and to go faster, that for another email....
Hey - upgrading to Windows 7 is a pain... but you cannot continue to use XP forever... it is not supported anymore by Microsoft and support from most Anti-Virus companies is dwindling ... My suggestion - get a new cheap computer on sale with WIN 7 already installed and forget XP... Please note I actually like XP better - but the system is the system and you cannot fight it forever... UPGRADE to WIN 7 on a newer computer or fight on for no reason... Note: Techie type folks can continue to work with old operating systems - but unless you are a total techie ... then convert.

Updating foxfire is usually a good thing to do help with crashes. I find it is most often the application I am running when it fails is the problem and needs an update.
Service Pack 3
What are you running when it crashes? I have had mine crash when I also have IE running along side Firefox. CPU usage goes ballistic and it over heats. Cooling fan runs fast and constantly.
Firefox can generate several of them, I have seen as many as 5 running at the same time, well actually only one is running, the rest are consuming resources and doing nothing. I am running XP-pro with sp3.
uninstall and then reinstall
adobe flash player could be the root to all these problems. Sometimes updating helps and some web based programs just have problems like some zynga games.
Go to Start>Run (or hold Windows key down and tap the R key and let go) and paste eventvwr.msc in it and hit OK.
Then hit the Application tab and see if you see any recent errors. Do the same with System and Power shell. If you see any error left click twice on the line and copy (Ctrl+C) and paste it here.
You can download the free “Mozilla backup” app, and backup your profile with it, then uninstall FF and install the latest build.
FF is far superior to IE and Chrome in my opinion.
Damn if I knew it was difficult, I wouldn’t use it..
If it stops working... I just go someplace else
TT
Check you ram memory chips. If one go bad, it will cause the computer to reboot at random times.
I had this reoccurring problem and it turned out to be a bad Flash update. Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and all is good.
