When mine starts chasing it's tail, I open task manager and kill all the "plugin containers."

Firefox can generate several of them, I have seen as many as 5 running at the same time, well actually only one is running, the rest are consuming resources and doing nothing. I am running XP-pro with sp3.

adobe flash player could be the root to all these problems. Sometimes updating helps and some web based programs just have problems like some zynga games.
