I did grow up in the country under circumstances like that. And there were alot of corn-fed pigeons of the farm that wish they never saw me or my bolt-action .22
I have two .22 rifles now, including one of the Marlin 60’s. Also an Iver Johnson .22 target revolver.
But if the zombies start up the hill towards my place, I’ll have a .22 nearby, but will be shooting something with a little bit more heft to it.
Totally up to you how you handle your own affairs...
It might not in a semi auto like the “60” you have.
I shoot a Marlin lever action “Golden Mountie” which is quite accurate, even with these low power rounds.
BTW thats the best performing bullet on the market for the price these days.
The .22 semi-auto pistol was used often and to great effect by the “Tunnel Rats” in Vietnam. It was relatively quiet in enclosed spaces (a major boon) and effective. Of course, most shots were taken at close range and many were head shots.
A rifle PING - our talks were justified...
All I know is the old Marlin 60 shoots everything except aguilla subsonic 22 and thats just because the projectile is to long and soft, so it hangs up on the feed ramp.
Sure it is.
It only takes 2 or 3 seconds to dispatch 4 to 10 rounds accurately. And especially at close range, with the right ammo, a .22 will stop and very likely kill even the largest lumberhead.
And Mossad.
Thanks for sharing your opinions and results.
I hope you don't mind if I use your pictures of the Aquilla Interceptor grouping and the Thunderbolt grouping to illustrate the difference between accuracy and precision.
The study of Metrology requires understanding the difference between accuracy and precision.
The Aquilla grouping illustrates precision without accuracy. The Thunderbolt grouping illustrates precision with accuracy, which is indispensible in the field of measurements.
Thanks....BTTT !
Every batch of Wolf ammo I’ve had for any of my firearms, was always dirty and fouled the weapon within 100-150 rounds. I gave-up on that brand years ago. JMO.
Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
The authors name was not available. I only posted the article.
Thanks for that link; interesting stuff. I always wondered how they got the primer compound in the rim!
CB caps generally don’t have enough kick to make the auto system kick out the empty. You might try a box to see how your rifle does with these.
For 100% lethality, use hollow points. A drop of lethal poison in the hollow; a drop of wax to seal it in.
Every wound becomes a kill.
I like your 308.
Lol. Have several 5000-cases of Hirtenberger. And the bricks are ideal for book-ends :).
Just picked up a Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Very impressed with it’s accuracy. Neat how it breaks down and fits in it’s backpack. Very fast action.
Terrible how I lost it in that unfortunate boating accident.
