US Christian gay hate group publishes pamphlet to teach homophobia to children [UK gay site]

[Interesting to see how they frame this, and that it is coming from a UK gay news site]A US Christian ministry has published a homophobic guide for parents to teach their children about gays.

Mission: America's hate-filled pamphlet called 'Questions and Answers for Kids About Homosexuality' is intended as an easy guide for parents struggling to explain to their older grade school or middle school children what being 'gay' means.

Despite rightly suggesting the word 'gay' should not be used as an insult, it quickly goes on to insist that homosexuality is 'wrong' and a 'sin'.

'Most cultures long ago decided this was very wrong. And they made rules against it, for a lot of good reasons,' the ministry's leader Linda Harvey writes.

'First of all, two men can never create their own child. Neither can two women. And two men kissing - well, it just doesn’t seem right. That’s because it isn’t.'

It goes on to suggest parents explain how 'homosexual feelings' are a sin and God wasn't pleased when some people didn't listen to him about it.

More worrying is the advice given on what kids should say to someone being bullied because of their sexuality.

Harvey wrote: 'If the bully uses bad words or makes up false stories that someone is “gay,” or calls a boy names like “sissy,” or worse, that’s horrible. Always speak up and help someone who is being bullied.

'But it’s not right to tell someone that being homosexual is okay. The person may be feeling sad because of being bullied, but never try to make him or feel better by saying “gay” is okay.

'Kids who are overweight are sometimes bullied, too. And we might want to make that person feel better. But it would be a mistake to say that overeating is a good thing, right?

'So tell your friends, in a nice way, that no one needs to be “gay” or pretend to be the other gender. It’s not the right thing to do.

'It is important to know the truth and stand up for it.'

Mission: America, which was branded a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, is based in Columbus, Ohio, and describes its purpose as covering the 'latest cultural and social trends in our country and what they might mean for Christians.'

In 2006, it helped launch a School Risk Audit program with other far right Christian groups to assess what it sees as schools' promotion of homosexuality, the criteria of which include anti-bullying programs that include acceptance of different sexual orientations and non-discrimination policies that include sexual orientation.

Sounds more like a case of leveling the playing field, something all progressives despise.

Well, it is “wrong” and a “sin”. Sorry about that.

I see nothing in this that doesn’t simply state the Christian beliefs. That that is hate speech is quite chilling, whether you agree with them or not. I’m sure this is a very confusing time for Christian children.

I think the Southern Poverty Law Center should be sued by some of the groups they have labeled as hate groups, for defamation. I wonder if they could win. At the very least it would make what they are doing very public. I’m not sure all of the American public would agree with their definition of a Hate Group.

That is exactly what I thought: A very simple Christian explanation geared toward young kids.

SPLC should be sued for defamation, because without them, there would not be all these “Hate Group does this and that” headlines.

That's an excellent point. They define "hate" as "disagree with something I believe and/or do." There aren't any roving bands of Christians looking to injure homosexuals or deny them the same rights we all have as American citizens, so there's no actual hate going on. But as long as they keep saying things like this, they have a chance of convincing the public it's actually true.

Now that Christian ministries are "hate" groups, will the police drag pastors from their pulpits for preaching "hate" speech (otherwise known as traditional Christian morality)?

When disagreement is called hate, obviously freedom of speech is vaporware. Heaven forbid the side that cannot tolerate any thoughts but their own ever get power.

Agreeing to disagree is healthy, sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling hate is bordering on insanity and violence.

So isn’t this hate towards Christians?
Sorry, kids I do get to say homosexuality actions are a sin according to God.
If you don’t like it , take it up with God.

Yes. And they more or less brought this on themselves, anyway: Had they stuck to their original premise, that all they wanted was to be left to their peace and privacy within a democratic society (which I would agree they have a right to) instead of pushing this rainbow agenda in the public schools, there would be no need of these pamphlets.

This is a half-witted defense of the gay agenda, and an all out Christophobic attack on Christians and God by people who confuse liberal tolerance with acceptance and inclusion. Hate filled homosexuals what the whole enchilada, and they are willing to destroy the morality of every child to get it. The devil has convinced them he doesn’t exist, and damn to Hell anyone who doesn’t agree, especially Christians.

As I explained to my grown daughter some years back, Christian love for homosexuals is very different than the ignorance that would have us say homosexuality is okay. It is far more compassionate to be truthful, and tell homosexuals they aren’t okay. A Christian shouldn’t tell an adulterer that adultery is okay, or an alcoholic that he shouldn’t worry about his drinking. We wouldn’t tell a pedophile that his sexual perversion is okay, or approve of bestiality. How many homosexuals who are pushing for gay marriage will say that polygamy is okay? I bet there are quite a few who won’t. Yet, polygamy is far easier defended with the “it’s in our genes argument” than homosexuality is. The Christophobes are wrong, and the Christians who are trying to raise their children to be spiritually, psychologically, and physically healthy are right.

Yes, they have their “born that way” and “equality” mantras, and anything else - whether it be a secular or a Christian argument - is just homophobia and hate. They persecute Christians but even if you made a secular-based argument about why it is better not to practice homosexuality, they would label that “bigotry” and “hatred” just the same. It is impossible to have them be tolerant of any - ANY - dissenting views.

Thanks. And I wish I could say no to your question, but the fact is, things - if they continue on on this track - will inevitably come to that. In Great Britain and in Canada there have been some arrested simply for preaching.
