My sister Barb has gone downhill very badly this month, especially this week.
I was with Barb today with our Mom & Dad instead of going to PA as I had planned for the weekend. My husband and George went up to MIL's without me, as I feel so badly about leaving Barb now. Barb today has been VERY lethargic and hardly awake. She was periodically briefly awake either from moving or from all of us disturbing her (lots of friends, etc). She has hardly eaten or drunk. When we asked if she wanted some eggs (after I got her a drink), she grimaced horribly and said "no!" then asked "aren't I getting a hamburger?" So off I ran to get McDonald's, which she only ate a tiny couple bites (the trouble now is everything is timeliness - she could lose her desire by the time you get there). She did not want to get off the toilet when they took her because she wants to sleep. I know she probably had more pain meds than needed today so that can make her more tired (Percocet knocks me out). However, of course I'm scared much of it is the cancer. She is indeed jaundiced and a bit itchy from it. We are doing our best. She has sometimes answered pretty strongly and lucidly, and smiled here and there, although it's hard for her to do anything but sleep. More people came by later and many are crying now. It's hard to see.
Please pray. I'm looking for:
a) miracle b) God's will c) reduction of suffering (in so many ways) d) strength, courage and unification for our immediate family e) my mother, who is devastated by this f) my brother-in-law, who is of course upset but also has his own heart-health issues (he is 13 years older than she) g) my nieces (17), who have seemed nonchalant about all this but I know they have feelings - and that they will not be "ruined" by all this in their last year of high school and life h) my nephew (25 on Sunday - another scary thing about birthdays possibly coinciding this month), who is a sweetheart and sensitive about his mom but may need more strength than we all realize

PRAYERS GOING UP!
The Twenty-Third Psalm Mahalia Jackson (Click)
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Psalm 23 -KJV

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Prayers for you and your family. Last fall we went through much the same thing with my BIL. It’s hard for you to see now but you are making things easier for your sister.

May God bless you, your parents, and your sister. But be of good cheer, Jesus overcame the world. Your sister is in a house of her body. If you could look individually at each and every cell of her body without hurting her you would never find Barb. That is because Barb is a soul who has this body. Her soul will go on. And, you and your parents will again see your sister. If she is metastatic the percodan will diminish her discomfort. There is no need to restrict it. Does she have an IV? She could get replacement electrolytes and fluids. This can be managed at home or hospital or extended care facility.
I am sorry for the suffering of your family and will keep you in my prayers.
