The start of football season prompted me to visit several sports websites to get an idea of how the putative expertsexpect my favorite college and NFL teams to fare this year.
(Not particularly well).
What struck me is that almost every one of the sites I visited has some sort of photo gallery of cheerleaders, often ranking them not on how well the squads perform their sideline routines, but how hot they are.
If that is what cheerleading has come to for many, if not most, male football fans ogling the young women between plays on the gridiron field that raises the question:
Can a young woman be, at once, a faithful Christian and a cheerleader?
Ariann Denison believes so.
She was a Miami Dolphins cheerleader from 2005 to 2009, before becoming the squads choreographer. She also owns a dance studio that not only offers classes in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and pro cheer, but also a liturgical class that combines dance with Christian music.
Ariann says that her background as an NFL cheerleader and choregrapher, and her position as owner of a successful dance studio, has given her the opportunity to share the Gospel with young women who may think that cheerleading and following the Lord are mutually exclusive.
My testimony shocks them, she told The Good News, a Christian newspaper. I tell the older girls that I didnt have my first drink until I was 25. I never went to a club in college. And I kept myself pure until marriage.
And like the dance students taking Arianns pro cheer class, there are many young women throughout the country who aspire to be cheerleaders at the high school, college or even professional level, but who refuse to compromise their Christian values.
Indeed, there are more than 500 Christian cheerleading camps and clinics around the country. The girls that attend the camps learn all the yells, the stunts, the acrobatics, the dances that are taught at secular camps.
The difference is that Christian cheerleaders are not about wearing skimpy costumes and performing bump-and-grind dance moves that are more appropriate at a strip club than on a football sideline.
Christian cheerleaders, as Ariann Denison attests, are not offended by male sports fans who think them hot. But those young women know they are set apart not by what can be seen on the outside by their male admirers, but what God can see on the inside.
NO IT DID NOT!! YOU are the one who said ' should we look at her hotness'? STAY FOCUSED. You are wasting alot of time and bandwidth on this with your dilemma of wanting to be right and YOU ARE NOT!
You address a hate filled rant at me, put words in my mouth, and say bless your heart.
All I did was express an opinion on what I've experienced in my life regarding cheerleaders and Feminists.
I think I like me better than you, LOL.
I’m happy for you, while it lasts.
That does not address your broadbrush comment.
As I said, things aren’t going to change here anytime soon.
Parents get called to either bring a change of clothes or pick up their child if the child is wearing something that doesn’t meet the dress code. Even the cheerleaders skirts meet that code.
I don’t know where you live, and I really don’t care, but your experience is not the same as everyone else. That you have lowlifes as cheerleaders for your school teams is not my problem. Most of our cheerleaders are honor students. And Christians.
BTW - you had already responded to my comment that you are responding to with this one. But thanks for the opportunity to once again remind you of your broad brushing and close mindedness.
I honestly don't understand why you think the article or my comments only apply to your personal schools.
Have you watched any college or professional cheerleaders on TV? There's a whole big world outside your town.
Someone is being "close minded", for sure. `
Have you been to a high school football game recently? The cheerleaders dont even watch the game, they just compete for attention by doing a circus routine in a sexy outfit.
Where in that comment do you mention college or NFL? You said HS - I spoke about HS.
So - who has the problem here?
But, if you insist, here's what I think:
Cheerleading, as it now stands, is the invention of Feminists who took the money away male sports because they hate men and will do anything for money. The parents of these girls, are setting the standards of poll dancers as normal in these girl's lives.
If is similar to Sarah Palin and her husband watching their daughter do a sex dance and rip a man's shirt off on national TV and telling their younger daughter how proud they are.
Parents are turning their children into sex workers without a thought.
Cheereading used to be a way to show support for a team, now it is a selfish “it's all about me” sex display that men use during games to replace porn until they can get back to their computer porn. Any parent who puts their innocent child into such a sitution and then thinks she will be safe at college, or anyplace else, is a disgrace if they can't even admit the danger and at least warn the child.
I responded to your initial comment, which was about HS, and found fault with the broad brush you used. Nothing more, nothing less. I then provided you with examples that were in opposition to your broad brush. You use it once again in this post.
I’m sorry you can’t figure that out.
BTW - I’m sorry that where you live cheerleading is not about showing support for the team, it is where I live. I also want to thank you for insulting all of the young ladies I know and reducing my daughter to tears with your ugly words. Yes - 14 year old girls do read FR, because parents like me are raising Conservative Christian women who are the future of our nation.
Just read the article and then watch this video of what cheerleaders do:

It’s time for you to learn something.
Even Jesus can’t Save a cheerleader.
The Miami dolphin Cheerleaders are NOT High School Cheerleaders - what part of that do you not understand.
What you need to learn is to stick to the topic - you commented about HS cheerleaders and that is what I addressed - I stayed on topic, but because my point did not agree with your broadbrush attitude you have attempted to change the topic.
Alinsky tactics don’t fly with me.
ping.
You are so odd. I was posting to someone else and it wasn’t my first post. I don’t know why everything revolves around you and your opinion of me. It’s so boring.
The article is about the Miami dolphin Cheerleaders. Did you read the article?
Here, you and your crying daughter should watch this pole dancing-like video and tell me if you think these are good Christian girls:

Odd is my middle name.
I guess this means you’re done yelling at me for expressing my opinion and providing examples to back it up?
" . . . The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: . . ."
Then there are the instructions of Titus 2:3-5, including discreet and chaste ; and then "modest" (1 Tim. 2:9), and "shamefacedness."
Hard to figure Christian cheerleaders.
To be quite frank, I find it harder and harder to countenance Children of God being so enamored with sports anyway. Getting more obviously idolatrous every week.
Just watched the video.
here’s my opinion.
Those are beautiful young women with bodies they are, and should be, proud of. They chose to show them off. However, I hope they have a back up plan because looks only last so long.
But am I insulted or think they are sluts? Nope, and nope. Maybe a touch jealous that I can’t rock that look, but if one of those were my daughter I’d be proud of her, but also encourage her to use the brain God gave her.
NICE FOREARM STAND!! I’ve been working for 6 months on a tripod headstand and just got it recently. The forearm stand is my next goal.
Do you really think it’s wise to post photos of your granddaughter online?
If you think this is pole dancing, its pretty obvious to me that youve never seen actual pole dancing.
BTW, here is a video from my local high schools cheer leading team in a county wide competition.

Oh those slutty girls. Their bare knees and naked ankles are showing. / s
