Turn Out The Lights: The Grand Old Party Is Over

That’s it. You can shut down the convention right now. It’s over. Romney’s camp just shut down all dissent, and they rigged it that way. Twitter is awash in angry tweets from people who know this was a sham. John Boehner actually wielded the gavel without a hint of a tear as he said “the ayes have it.” They didn’t have it, and I think it was pretty clear that even if they did, this was a set-up. I have news for the GOP establishment. I am voting in November. I will vote for all the down-ballot candidates who are worthy of my support. I am not going to vote for Mitt Romney. Don’t look at the page as though you’ve read the words of a man pledging treason. It was not I who rigged the primaries. It was not I who rigged the convention. It was not I who rigged the rules committee. All of those things are actual treasons against the conservatives in the America, and all of those things were carried out by Mitt Romney and his legion. I am a small matter to it, but I will have my say. If the Republican party wishes to commit suicide by Romney, they may do so, but they will do so without my help in the matter. John Boehner may have enjoyed his moment in despotic pleasure, and Reince Priebus may have been doing his masters’ bidding, but Mitt Romney had it within his power to put a stop to all of this, but when tested by circumstance, Mitt Romney’s fatal character flaws prevailed.

The Republican Party is dead. It’s time we get on with this convention and consider it a funeral. You’re witnessing a party that will now fall, and I’m going to help it on its way. Some of you diehard Republicans who read this blog may wish to find other haunts. It’s not going to be pretty. When I saw John Sununu begin to surface with regularity on Fox News over the last few weeks, I suspected the fix was in. His conduct of the RNC Rules Committee on Tuesday demonstrates that fact.

I am a person who refuses to separate his convictions from his actions and choices. Mitt Romney could have done many things to gain my support, and the support of many others, but rather than do so, he seized control. He used all his pals and buddies to take over and make the voices of grass-roots Republicans and Tea Party conservatives silent. Some will urge that we remain focused on November, and I agree, but my focus is irrevocably changed. I am out to defeat the GOP establishment in any and every form that may take.

Note to conservatives: I will understand if you swallow your pride and your principles and vote for Mitt Romney, but do not come to this site to chastise me or others who refuse to join you. Your argument had consisted of convincing us that the Romnoids wouldn’t behave this way, and at precisely that moment when they needed to prove it, they behaved precisely as we dissenters knew that they would. Save it.

Romney had his chance. Today, he blew it.

Just finishing what his daddy started.

I hope it was worth it because he blew a sizable portion of his foot off yesterday.

>> I openly wonder how many of the folks who claim they wont vote for Romney actually get government support in some form or another?

There’s a couple of ‘em right here on FR. Follow the money!

Hint: Obamao is very, very good for Federal retirees. Their pensions and bloated bennies are safe in his marxist lockbox.

I will take Ronald Reagan's position in this subject ...

Ronald Reagan would never vote for a "patholigical" political liar who was pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, member of a racist religious cult who despised Jesus Christ ...

I gladly wear the term "traitor" from whoever is crass, Godless, or or deluded enough to vote for either Obama or the Celestial God-Child from Planet Kolob ... just to make Karl Rove and George Soros happy ...

I am sick of faux Conservatives insisting that we keep Stalin in the White House because Romney isn’t likely to be a good President.

We all agree. Romney is not going to be a good President. He is still 1000x better than the alternative.

Romney at least knows which city is the capital of Israel - which is a shortcut way of saying that under him, America’s foreign policy will not be the toxic shambles it is now.

Also his election will elevate Ryan and give America a chance to survive to the point where the new oil revenues kick in.

I am tired of hearing that kind of advice.

Heard it in 2008...

Heard it in 2004...

Heard it in 2000...

How many decades do we follow that advice? From Compassionate Conservatism to RINO Romney ....every-time, every-time we are taunted with the ‘fear’ of the greatest election in our country's history...really?

The more I look at what 0bama is pulling off now with his “We can't wait initiatives” to what will Romney really revoke in 2013 and can congress truly repeal the evil that has been put in place through massive interwoven pieces of legislation, I don't think the vote matters as much as some would have us believe. We're several elections too late to save this country.

Romney/Ryan can't stop what is headed our way. Hell, I don't think Romney has the ability to lead us through it. And yes, I don't think there is another track change before the Winston Tunnel. The engine is kaput and what is left to pull us through...but an old coal fired engine in a very long and dark tunnel.

What did they do? What did they stifle, and what did they replace it with that was so offensive to "conservatives?"

Just asking, I really don't know what the beef is?

In WI, Mitt was the only one standing - I still voted for Newt who also had dropped out.

Get a grip folks - this is incremental victories for us, the true conservatives. Do NOT blow this by “sitting on the sidelines”. I for one am sick and tired of people who blather on and on about how “I can’t vote for Romney...” He was NOT my first choice, but add Ryan in the mix, makes it better. BUT as others on this thread say... get your head out of the sand and VOTE for Romney to get this $^&@ out of our people’s house.

THEN we move another increment closer to a more conservative party. Just look at the grass roots nominees that us conservatives have and will put in place in 2012.

Inches, not miles at a time, folks!

With this childish name nonsense, how can you be taken seriously? Is this an epidemic or did kindergarten get out early?

I agree with you, I’ll vote for Romney, but only because he is not Obama. As far as the down-ticket goes, I’ll vote for the most conservative candidate no matter what the party.

Next time though... I think McConnell is up again for re-election and I’ll vote for his primary opponent. He is one the really needs to go into retirement.

And if a real third party develops... Well I think I’ll switch over to it. The Republican establishment is nothing more than Democrat lite.

These “conventions” just infomercials for two wings of the one party that’s been governing us (badly) for many decades now. These wings differ greatly on what Ralph Nader cleverly calls “gonadal politics” but they’re pretty much the same on everything else, especially—and unfortunately—economics and foreign policy. I’m jealous of the nations with real parliamentary systems; at least they have other choices of political parties and philosophies when their major parties can’t get it done. Thank heavens for Netflix, although the major networks don’t carry this stuff anymore.

Still, four more years of Obama’s distruction is not an option

No, it is not and option, but whether 0bama is elected or Romney...it is what we're going to get. Sadly, that is the very real truth. I say this not because of Romney, but because of all the massive legislation that needs to be overturned and repealed. From 0bamacare to portions hidden and tucked away for later in stimulus bills. The only way to have stopped any of this agenda would have been able to convict 0bama of treason and overturn EVERYTHING he has signed into law. Somehow we missed that boat...

What a load.

If Palin had run, she would have won, and none of this would be happening.

Palin thought long, hard, and until the (very) last moment. And surprized quite a few of us.

That happened. Then we moved on.

ALL OF THAT is beside the point now. Grow up and move on. Get ‘em next time.

This time, stop whining, and get with the program.

For crying out loud. Get with the program.

“You might get zero direct support like food stamps or welfare but I would guess that 99.99% of us on FR are the same. “

I didn’t ask this. I also included medicare, social security, federal retirement, federal employment - anything from the government - even on military retirement, you are invested in the status quo, like it or not, and it may taint your outlook in the way yours has been tainted.

Depending on our gov’t spending (and it may not matter who is president) we have a fair chance of experiencing a significant financial shock that could cut or drastically curtail federal payments and drastically increase taxes.

I think Romney may be able to obtain some level of economic growth that may stave this off for at least some period of time, rather than encourage it as Obama does.

We’ll see.

They have nothing but fear.

“We need to vote for every CONSERVATIVE down ticket.”

Yes.

“I am sick of faux Conservatives demanding that we drink the Romney/GOP-E hemlock.”

It would assuage their own moral guilt and cowardice. That is why they are so abusive and desperate.

I have serious doubts that there is any intent to overturn or repeal it. Too many governors on both sides of the aisle are implementing the state side of Obamacare and if they really believed it wouldn't last they wouldn't be in such a rush to get things in place. Even Mitt's buddy Rick Snyder is pushing ahead by executive order against the wishes of the Michigan legislature and the people.

I won’t walk through them quietly.
