Preppers’ PING!!
“It’s just like camping.”
Camping out at the Little Big Horn, maybe. The urban zombies will be thicker than flies.
If I see my neighbors collaborating, it'll be about how they can rip me off.
I just had a talk with some electronic experts today
old timers
been there/done that guys
REAL knowlegable
If we ever get the EMP like Iran is threatening, forget about faraday cages. They wont work. Dont even consider it.
food.water.ammo.seeds. Bibles.
not necessarily in that order.
If we have to resort to cannibalism .. . will vegans taste better?
This one is true. Given enough money, you can buy sufficient food and other supplies to last longer than you or your family will live.
You might have trouble storing it all, and keeping others from taking it from you, but you certainly can buy it.
I once heard someone say that he didn’t have to fool with all this survivalist stuff. He said all he needed was a gun and a list of Mormons.
“6. I can convince my significant other that this is the right move. “
Is that a myth as it cannot happen because my wife is all on board. It took a little coaching on current events but she saw the light very quickly.
I figure if I have to give up my lifestyle and live in the 19th century, I'm preemtorially surrendering to a catastrophe that might or might not happen.
As far as holding off hungry neighbors goes. If they're that hungry, then they probably are poorly prepared and light on armament and if I have time to get the wire up, I can probably discourage them while they're held up in the wire.
Finally no catastrophe lasts forever. Look at New Orleans after Katrina. Roving bands of police thugs picked on weak and undefended homeowners, stealing their guns, but left the better defended neighborhoods alone. Eventually NO got back to normal (corruption violence and more corruption)

Dear S-MOM,
You just made the best point I have heard yet. ITS NOT LIKE CAMPING. I had not heard of a bug out bag until recently, and when I first heard it I studied to learn what was meant by bug out, then I laughed. Not because such preparations are not wise. My vehicles carry enough supplies for comfort for a week in a blizzard on the roadside. I laughed because people think they will leave the city with a bag of supplies and go camping for the rest of their life. Or a year, or a month.
I lived in the Amazon (missionary) with a canoe, hammock, mosquito net and shotgun for a year. I came out of the jungle with malaria, ameobic dysentery, and I looked like a skeleton and was approaching death at age 27. I also camped in my younger years in extreme cold in the USA. I slept with bedding on the ground after wiping the snow away and snuggling my bedding into leaves.
I would be the first to say that a camping mentality is NOT SUSTAINABLE. The surburbanites will die if they think it is a camping trip. I actually would try to stay home and hold the fort if at all possible. Or relocate to a house of some sort as you have apparently done.
Blessings
David
Maybe the biggest myth is that preparing for when TSHTF costs money.
It saves money: Buying in bulk when prices are low. Everybody used to do that, it’s just good sense.
Ive talked to hundreds of preppers over the last two years and many people who like me try and provide guidance to those who prep or starting to and the one comment I hear the most is that they have a feeling. These people are from all social, education and financial backgrounds. They say that there are demonstrable statistic that show that the number of people missing airline flights that end up crashing is higher than the average number of people that miss flights. I know myself there have been times when I have putted around doing this and that in the morning, which is unusual for me only to leave and find that a big wreck has taken place along my route to work. I say listen to that little voice in the back of you head, because theres a good chance it knows what its talking about.
Something wicked this way comes, are you ready?
For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:
http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf
NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!
For those of you who havent started already its time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.
As the LDS say When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.
Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3
Lastly this for the doubters and the scoffers.
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
Just getting around to reading this. I spent the day on the web looking for a women’s tactical vest - finally found one that is just right for my purpose. Right now, my gun is in one place, the speed loaders are in another place, and the bullets are in another place. It will be altogether in that vest and that’s a good thing.
Unfortunately, I think that list is very much what people think. However, my sister-in-law and her husband are worse than that. They think things are fine now but there will be trouble later due to global warming and then they will go to California where crops will grow better (they don’t grow anything now). So, they are worse than the people who believe what’s on that list. If TSHTF, I will take care of those two crazy people because they have been a great help to me.
Bump for later...
