Too many of us so called Christians today buy into the perversion that is prevalent in entertainment, simply because its there, its being promoted and we read or hear good reviews. The popularity of such genre does not make it acceptable for us, as Christians, to take part in it. If anything, we should be speaking out against it.

I get more time to walk and run and bike etc
Every time I see the “naughty librarian” eyeglasses commercial, I’m glad I do not have kids that would ask me to explain it to them.
I have seen things on ABC “family” that are practically soft core porn.
The fifty shades thing is just crap. It is a poor story, poorly written.
The success of that trilogy says more about the castration of the American male than it does about lack of morality. If men were allowed to act like men, women would not be begging for manly attention.
And the way that women act over male strippers is equally stupid. They think THAT is what happens in the average strip joint. How come they never show the fat, greasy haired loser that sits at the bar alone, just staring at the dancer—too afraid to speak.
We are just done as a civilization. Accept that, and make plans for that, and life gets so much easier.
Looks like AZ to me. I’m here too.
I think I may have seen that commercial, but didn’t pay attention. We are so conditioned to sexual innuendo, I think sometimes we don’t even notice it! Shame on them.
I did, have only around 20 channels now.
As I mentioned in another post, I got rid of most of it, except for around 20 channels. That decision was a financial one, although I never was hooked on any programs, except the one I still watch, Inside Edition.
I rented Hall Pass at my daughter’s suggestion - she thought it was funny. About half way through, I shut it off. Constant references to sex - a real turnoff. One of Jennifer Aniston’s recent movies...can’t remember which one, same thing. She talks about “fingering herself” among other things. The movie was loaded with sexual innuendo. That got turned off also.
It just keeps getting worse and worse. I hate what this country has become.
This article is about a movie and a book series.
there is a lingering close up of male genitalia in that movie, did you miss that?
I don’t think the 50 Shades audience is looking for manly men. This thing started off as Twilight slash fic, that’s a subsection of fan written fiction for people who don’t think the original material was smutty enough. It got popular enough that some publishing house got the bright idea to scrape the serial numbers off (change all the character names) and publish it. None of the males in Twilight (and therefore Shades) are particularly manly, they’re all about the “sensitive immortal love” craved by dingbats that never really grew out of their Disney movie phase.
There is an interesting dynamic, that’s been commented on by many comedians, on the difference between how men and women behave in strip clubs. Women are all about the wild crazy party, men are more... contemplative in their lust.
I agree with you that christians are speaking up about very very perverse stuff. It’s sad to see christians even supporting it.
I have a TV and cable (although I pay too much for it). I watch mostly sports. Maybe a few shows during the fall/winter. There definitely is some very bad stuff out there and it’s important to be vigilant.
Sarcasm, I hope? (It's a shame I have to ask.)
Nothing wrong with sport, ‘specially if its the Steelers!
;-)
I don’t remember, since the movie was entirely forgettable. But that is typical of movies now.
Haha. I like the Pirates, but my football team is the Bills. I make up for my absolute failures of Pro teams by rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats in college basketball.
Why would a family sit down to watch Hall Pass? Funny movie, but it is adult themed. And...there is nothing wrong with making movies for adults. My idea of hell is 24/7 family television. Great for kids, sucks for adults.
They do not make “family television” any more
