Located more than 1,000 miles from the embattled border between the United States and Mexico, Scotland County definitely is not on the forefront of the immigration debate.
That didn't prevent local law enforcement officials from getting a first-hand glimpse of federal policy recently.
On Monday, June 4th, Scotland County Sheriff's Deputy Bryan Whitney initiated a traffic stop on Highway 136 east of Downing. The deputy pulled over a white Ford truck for a lane violation on suspicion of careless driving.

Those were not illegals ...they are Obama voters comming here to build a Castro Country.
I’m going to take up regularly speeding, running stop signs and stop lights, and answer all traffic stop inquiries no hablo ingles.
A similar stop of a United States resident would have likely resulted in tickets being issued for no valid driver’s license, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. If the motorist had been from outside the jurisdiction, a $250 cash bond likely would have been required to insure a court appearance.

That makes me ill and we pay higher insurance premiums because of these non-insured drivers. Tired of the chit.
Shouldn't the car be impounded until a legal driver can be found to drive it?
Which is perfectly legal in Obamastan (fka USA).
Racist.
Exactly right...even with ObaMarx’s “hands off illegals” policy, they should still have to obey the laws. There are ways to fight this insanity. If they repeatedly have their cars taken away, I bet they’ll stop driving. Then maybe they’ll GTFO.
Racist.
LOL...I hate to state the obvious, but it's only racist if it's a BLACK Ford.
I knew that, but I didn’t want to wait until someone posted the “appropriate” story. Besides, I ripped the joke off from Dennis Miller (I think). It’s not even mine.
Despite having no valid driver’s license or insurance coverage, not to mention no passports or other legal documentation to allow them to be in the United States, the individuals were released.
They did consent to a vehicle search, and no weapons or drugs or any other illegal contraband were identified.
“After a little more than three hours, we were instructed to send them on their way because the federal government was not going to send anyone to Memphis to handle the immigration infraction,” Whitney said.
Big sis said let them go. She and withholder are to busy shredding documents to bother.

This is what pisses me and other people off the most about the illegal alien invasion. It is almost as if, because they are already here illegally, i.e. breaking the law, they are excused from obeying any laws once they are here.
In Vegas, they push grocery carts(stolen, of course) up and down the residential streets selling various food and treats. Do they have a license to sell? Does the health department inspect where the food is produced/cooked? Do they pay taxes on the money they take in?
Of course not!!!! Do the police, who pass them all the time ever stop them and cite them for BREAKING THE LAW?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Clark County there are restrictions on the number of yard/garage sales one is allowed to hold per year. Yet, drive down any street that is inhabited by mostly Hispanic people and you will see front yards filled with goods and furniture for sale, day after day. Are they cited for this, for BREAKING THE LAW?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
This discrimination and unfair enforcement of the laws of this country upon the legal citizenry drives much of the anti illegal alien sentiment.
We see that when a state tries to put a halt to such blatant disregard for the lawful citizens of this country, the federal government slaps it down and withdraws from its constitutional duty to protect the people.
The powers that be know this and want this. The question is, how long will those of us who suffer because of it going to allow it to continue?
Hey ,,I get it. There is no more USA..Its over.
You may rest assured that Johnny Suburbanite would have received a nice fat ticket plus those nice fat court costs because Deputy Fife knows Johnny’s good for $300 min and is some nice low hanging fruit.
Poor Dep Fife can’t predict or rely on what the lawless feds will do.
Should we all renounce our citizenship in order to become police-proof? Is that how it works now?
Get a good tan and learn Mexican (can’t really call it Spanish)
I know an Apache down here who loves to raz the BP when they stop him while traveling along the border. Seems they don’t understand his language.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans at the Federal level want to flood us with illegal aliens. They won’t enforce the borders. The immigration war can only be won at the state level, and the treasonous Roberts Court has just ruled that the States are not legally allowed any immigration enforcement on any level.
We’re screwed. This is as the national Democratic Party and GOP wants it.
You can thank them all later when your great grandchildren are herded into the new Gulags.
This entire article makes no sense.
There are Federal laws, and there are state laws.
Our present dysfunctional and incompetent federal government forbids states from enforcing Federal laws. That's immoral, unethical and self-destructive. Fine.
But the federal government has absolutely no power to forbid a state from enforcing its own laws.
So what gives?
Lack of jail space? Impounding an unregistered car is perfectly normal. Impounding an uninsured car is perfectly normal. Jailing an unlicensed driver is a public health issue.
It's probably reasonable to expect that citizens and legal residents would rather have these criminals in jail indefinitely than share their highways with diseased, unskilled and criminal illegal aliens.
So why isn't that happening?
