Weve seen it time and again over the last decade. An emergency strikes and panic grips the city or region for days or weeks on end.
We saw a complete breakdown of emergency response and law & order during Hurricane Katrina. The 2011 Snowpocalypse on the east coast led to runs on grocery stores and empty shelves within a matter of hours. Widespread blackouts during Hurricane Ike left large sections of the Houston power grid down for up to four weeks. In all these cases gas was almost impossible to find, what was in your pantry was what you had until food distribution resumed, local water was not safe for consumption, and government response was limited to reinstating essential services first and foremost.
The bottom line, as Jesselyn Radack of the Government Accountability Project notes, is that after billions have been spent by Department of Homeland Security, FEMA and local law enforcement, we are no more prepared today than we were the day before September 11, 2011.

The government loves these types of non-preppers. They love a headless desperate people because the government is equally or worse in terms of incompetence. They want dum sheeps.
I live on the Eastern shore of Maryland, but work two hours away in Rockville, Maryland. Got a call this morning from work...don’t bother coming in, no power! We may be out tomorrow, too. Everything on the Eastern Shore is fine. It’s like living in another state most of the time. If the weather is good here, across the Bay Bridge, it’s awful, and vice-versa. The politics over here is much more conservative, too.
You know I watched a couple of hours of the Communist Broadcasting System (CBS) morning show this morning, and I didn’t hear a single word about this. I guess they felt that they had to cover for the 0bama regimes’ lack of response.

Yeah, that’s the “Green” energy “sustainable development” bull crap for you... Now how is Gaia gona help you when she does not cooperate with your power solutions that depend on her?

Once Lil Barry gets back from his golf outing, he’ll take care of every thing. Just like he did in Colorado.
I don’t really feel sorry for any of the liberal greeners when their cars cannot go anywhere because they are literally tethered to the grid. Unless someone installed a roof mounted generator on one.
Today I picked up my 43rd number 6 can of Augason farms. My emergency trailer project is advancing, if I were in a flood prone area next project would be to build a barge under it or rather a simple floating dock out of styrofoam panels.
Not possible to telework a concrete mixer (dam those middle class blue collar workers! /sarc)
May all those liberal achievements come back down upon their heads like a flock of diuretic seagulls.
When those welfare checks, EBT’s, Food Stamps, and other crack-funding schemes for those inner city tribes is un-available, THAT is a CRISIS!
Good point! It is the first of the month. Did those electronic accounts get funded? Can they be accessed? How do you transact sales w/o power?
When it happened here due to extreme flooding 4-5 years ago, the stores used paper and pen and took cash. I think the power was out for 4 days or so. I don’t recall, exactly, because we were on a generator, as were all the neighbors and the hospital.
This “emergency” manifests a socialist way of thinking mired in unreality.
3 days without electrical power! The horrors! /s
Just imagine what type of horrible lives our forefathers must have endured sweating by their brow to put food on the table year-round, without R-19 insulation or the ability to play midnight basketball.
Maybe if people actually learned how to provide for themselves, instead of joining into a mutually corrupt society, regulating the lives of all people and insisting they not be allowed to live unless they live like kings, then perhaps our economic weaknesses could be solved at the local level without nationalistic micromanagement enslaving all Americans.
It’s times like this that make me believe that this un-preparedness is not just desireable but planned. Why? Because it is very easy to get people to do what you want them to do when their lives are disrupted by promising that if you let me do ****** then your lives can get back to normal much quicker than if you don’t let me do it.
A better question is "How?" With mind-control beams? Face it, a lot of folks just don't see the value in it. My BIL is one such guy. He just doesn't see any reason to invest money into preparedness. If something THAT bad happens, he figures the emergency responder types (aka government folks--FEMA, military, police, etc) will handle such problems.
You could argue that government has made us soft and expectant as a people, but these are individual choices being made. Very unwise individual decisions.
The State of Florida encourages people to take basic preps and warns they won’t be able to help for 3 days. Still 80% of the people don’t have 3 days of food/water.
Yeah, we lost power for 8 days in November of 2011 here on the east coast. Of course, we had both been through power outages here before so we had a propane fired Generac 8kw whole house generator installd a few years earlier which we planned for, paid for and relied upon. No government help or tax subsidy and we did it anyway, go figure

Are the DC natives behaving?
Let’s not forget an earthquake achieved that same chaos last August.
I worked downtown for the FBI when the quake struck. The plan? Go home! Ever wondered what total chaos looks like? Just tell 4 million people in a city of 800,000 to leave at the same time. While cell phone service is non-existent and the subway isn’t running. It took 4 hours to go from 935 Penna Ave. to Union Station, less than 4 miles. Then took another 4 hours for the trains to run and another 2 hours for the train ride.
I had to laugh because I’d spent three days in orientation where they bragged about having a “plan” in the event of a terrorist attack! Some plan — go home!
Now we expect these dopes to run another massive government program! Oh, brother!
And I'm as old or maybe older than many of them and I sit here with a way to be cool in hot Texas weather if the power goes off and I'll always have good water and food. If I could just take them what I have, but I can't.
What a lousy state of affairs this is. What aren't nursing homes and senior citizen high rise apartment buildings prepared for something like this? If I owned that high rise, there would be supplies for something like this.
Don't people have any sense about their welfare? If I see one more post on here knocking preppers, I will come unglued.
The able bodied parents should think of their children and prepare. Anyone in charge of a senior facility, should be prepared.
I guess you can tell I am ticked off at the unnecessary suffering going on.
