1.Trust no one that you do not personally know. 2.Keep your prepping to yourself. 3.Dont share any prepping articles on Facebook or other social media 4.Make sure boxes are not labeled 5.Do not tell anyone what you are up to. 6.Be alert to what others are saying.

” there may be a group in your area. “
Keep in mind the hard-learned axiom of Resistance movements —
“In a group consisting of three persons, the odds are even that one of them is an informer...”
I have to take some exception to that. I am part of a small group that shares produce and canned goods. We often talk about prepping and look at each others strong points in case a need would arise.
More than one ,more like half a dozen or so, You can pick'm out by the way they back each other up . Almost like they're here monitoring whats being said on this site.
That’s your story and you’re sticking to it, right?
Yes, I’m just a little old lady trying to follow directions from my concerned government. As soon as Hussein gets kicked out, I will revise my thinking - until then, I just love this government.
Not necessarily a good idea given that DHS probably does the same thing.
Where is the /s ?
I don't think it hurts to have 7-10 days of EMERGENCY FOOD clearly labeled. Opsec is difficult under stress, especially if there is a partial sense of normality and order. If word leaks out that you are hording food, and if Dear Leader's minions come after it, it's best to hand over your emergency food for sharing with those less fortunate. They'll search until they find it. If they find enough to be believable, they'll eventually stop looking and go harass someone else.
I think such sarcasm works better when the reader has to figure it out for themselves. :)
If some half wit misunderstands me, it wouldn’t be the first time, nor would I care. :)
It is.
I don't recall the name of the website but I found it in an article on SurvivalBlog.com. It is an ad board of sorts where groups like these advertise for people to join their efforts in creating a redoubt for when things get 'weird'. You must bring skills to the table and be willing to engage in reasonable commerce with other inhabitants but it sounds kind of interesting.
I wish I could remember the name but if you look, you shall find.
I’m right here :D
That article from 1918 is remarkable. Spending one’s own money on one’s own larder was illegal and worthy of punishment in the United States. Unfreakingreal.
In a group consisting of three persons, the odds are even that one of them is an informer...
There's really nothing to "inform" about ... we're not engaged in any nefarious activities. We've got plenty of current and former military and law enforcement personnel who participate in our group (in fact, they contribute TREMENDOUSLY).
Of course there's still some risk in anyone becoming aware that you're "preparing for the worst", but for our participants that is more than outweighed by the benefits of sharing knowledge and learning experiences.
I'm not sure I understand what you are saying there. Our group would be happy to welcome any members of government agencies onboard. In fact, a big chunck of our membership consists of current and former LEO and military.
Just in the last couple of weeks I have collected 25 assorted cans of the Augason Farms dehydrated foods, the big one gallon cans, everything from bacon bits to powdered honey.
Picked up a 21’ travel trailer for $500 last year, repaired the damage from a leaking roof and its the emergency refuge on wheels. Bit by bit its being converted to be as much as possible to be “off the grid”.
Solar panels are next, and I hope to get a shortwave radio.
I absolutely believe in OPSEC, children are your biggest liability, they can be easily persuaded by sweet talking officials coming to schools to share at home secrets.
But then again this can be a strategic asset to draw out any local hunter confiscation agency in your area. get enough families together for a joint operation to tell the kids about your hoarding stash only to fake them out so they confiscate tins of sawdust and rusted bolts.
Very first thing to remember is that any Marxist or Communist pogrom requires the willing acceptance of the people to embrace its policies.
Obama is as sure as rain making America desperate for any Federal bailout just as if the Feds were handing out free cocaine on the street corners.
When the people have no other recourse to depend on the Feds for food then they will not be open or willing to overthrow suc said Marxist empire.
Watch for when peoples at home gardens are being razed, look for when sales of prepper food is taxed exclusively, or requires photo ID to be entered into a database.
I fully expect Obama is put a very strong presence of ferreting out millions of preppers and hoarders, because they by their acts are a boulder in the road to socialism. And Obama cannot have that.
OPSEC is wise to use and possibly a better tactic to laugh in their faces, to openly declare hoading all across America, to hoard every minute, to hoard every day, your sons and daughters are hoarding, granny is hoarding, even Fido is hoarding his favorite pet food, the parakeet is hoarding.
We are a hoarding nation unified against Obama. His statue may be in gold but his feet is clay and it will erode his base and it will topple.
2,940 #10 Cans!
Now this is a personal choice and I will admit some of these meals are very good, but I don’t like all of them. Many of these kits have say meals A-B-C-D-E-F meals say you like A-C-D, B and F are OK, but you would feed E to you dog that means you are stuck with 1/6 of your food storage that your will only eat it you have no other choice. And seeing how you don’t like it and you have reached a point where that’s all you have left to eat then not only will you have to eat it you will have to eat it day in and day out for???
Now if I have ingredients and basics I can make pretty much what I want and the way I like it.
That’s my two cents worth.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good cookbook showing a variety of recipe’s using long term storage foodstuffs? If a person had to live off their stored supply for a year or two, it would be good to have a cookbook showing various dishes using the same goods over and over but in different combinations and dishes.
