Why Barack Obama listed his birthplace as Kenya

The biography provided by Barack Obama to his literary agent specified his birthplace as "Kenya". And, over the course of 17 years, despite multiple revisions by Obama, the Kenyan birthplace remained a fundamental part of the bio on the agent's website.

Was Barack actually born in Kenya? I seriously doubt it, even though Michelle Obama has publicly stated that Kenya is her husband's "home country". Contemporary newspaper listings in Honolulu, for example, list the time and place of his birth. While this isn't ironclad proof, to be sure, it's good enough for me.

No, my suspicion is that Mr. Obama manipulated his birthplace intentionally (and cynically) to take advantage of certain benefits unavailable to those born in the United States.

Bookworm Room describes why that might have been. We need to set the Wayback Machine to 1978, when young Obama was seeking admission to college.

1978 isn’t just any year. It’s a very special year. It was the year that the Supreme Court decided Regents of the University of California v. Bakke (1978) 438 U.S. 265... [and] held that [the] race-based admission process was unconstitutional.

With that decision, Obama, who was a self-confessed slacker in high school, suddenly lost his e-ticket to a good college. He couldn’t know then (nor would it have mattered) that the various concurrences in this deeply divided opinion would eventually open the door to colleges and universities making race a “factor” in admission, so much so that this “factor-ness” eventually created a whole new quota system.

My best guess is that, denied an opportunity to use quota systems to parlay a lousy academic record into a quality college admission, Obama searched around for other means of bypassing his academic failings. It was this search that led him to announce that he was Kenyan. I’m sure that a certain amount of digging will reveal that, just when the Bakke decision came down, American universities were engaged in some sort of pro-active policy involving increasing the number of African nationals on America’s college campuses. Obama was happy to oblige the universities in this effort by co-opting his father’s nationality, and burying the fact that he was a garden-variety American black kid.

There’s the nexus — In 1978, Obama, who already then was willing to lie to achieve his goals, created a false identity to deal with the changes the Bakke decision wrought on college admissions.

This appears to be an extremely plausible explanation for Obama's refusal to release any of his college transcripts.

My guess is that this scenario -- or one similar to it -- helps explain why Obama enjoys the company of race-hustlers like Al Sharpton.

And where was the media for lo these many years? Busy investigating Sarah Palin's elementary school chums?

So how did prominent scratches on a microfilm disappear a month later?

I don’t know all the answers for how things happened. What I do know is that microfilm scratches don’t disappear, and if somebody wants you to believe that they do, there’s something fishy going on.

I’ve researched a lot of teeny, tiny, minute details such as those scratches. Each discrepancy is a dot. Those dots add up to a picture. You can tell me that my picture is nonsense, but if you are going to get anywhere with me you’ve got to start with each little dot that forms the picture.

So tell me why a microfilm copy lacks the scratch it had just a month earlier.

And in case that bores you too much, then let’s take a little dot that relates to your own theory. Why is NARA’s microfilm listing people coming into the US from a foreign country missing only the week for Obama’s alleged Hawaii birth? It’s obviously just going to be a guess in the dark because NARA claims they don’t even know why that microfilm has gone missing.

Or even more, why won’t the Passport Office show anybody the index lists of passports issued to Obama’s mother - which are permanently retained, alphabetized so they are easily located, required to be disclosed publicly since she is deceased, and could very easily show whether she even COULD have been outside the US to give birth?

It’s the motherhood that is the myth. Stanley Ann Dunham didn’t have to fly anywhere to have a child, there’s no evidence she ever met the kenyan, there’s no evidence she was ever pregnant in Hawaii, there’s no evidence of her presence in Hawaii other than an enrollment date on a letter from the U of HI which might very well have applied to the ANN S OBAMA who was shown as a student living at the ‘birth announcement’ address (where no one remembers the Dunhams living) and when you allow for the BLENDING of two women (COMPOSITES) Ann S OBAMA then shows up in Seattle with a child the baby-sitter said she minded in JANUARY 1961 when her own daughter who was born in July 1959 was 18 months old...one has to finally realize that mother could NOT have been Stanley Ann Dunham and that child could NOT have been zero...
Because Stanley Ann Dunham was still in High School somewhere when that child Mary baby-sat was conceived, right?
Of course he would say he was born in Kenya. THAT’S WHERE THE MAN WHO WASN’T HIS FATHER CAME FROM. But it tells us nothing about where HE was born.

Everybody believes something, but there is educated belief which is based on facts and there is blind belief which is based on what’s easiest at the moment. I don’t think there’s any way to penetrate blind belief. I keep trying, in the hopes that it’s not willfully blind belief, just ignorance. Sometimes it takes time for the evidence to sink in too, so hopefully it’ll do that.

I’m sorry... I’m mixing up my conspiracy theories. Yours is that Stanley (or whatever her name was) wasn’t even his mother? Well thats a new one. Someone doctored a birth announcement, AND, zero Senior handed zero Junior to a 17 year old and said “here, raise this half white baby with me”.

Doesn't that make you wonder if it's possible a child accompanied by an adult could enter the US from any of the foreign countries listed...and all that would be needed to remove the record of the name of the adult who brought the infant into Hawaii would be to remove the arrivals from overseas for the first week of August 1961? I would be interested in a list of names of adults travelling with an infant from Ghana...and Egypt, for example.

True, no “place of birth” is mentioned. Only a residence of parents, which has been proven false as to being the residence of “the couple” Mr. and Mrs. Barack H Obama. They never resided together. There was time to indicate so in txe “Polk” directories had they lived together. The Polks prove the deception.

Your comment made me look it up. Chester Arthur’s father was born in Ireland, and still a citizen of the British Empire when Chester was born. His mother was born in the United States and an American citizen at the time of his birth. Chester was said to have been born in Vermont, which as far as I can tell would make him an American citizen. (Same as with Obama if born in Hawaii).

BUT - rumors were that Chester Arthur (the future president) was born during one of his mother’s frequent visits to her mother-in-laws home in Canada. And the lack of records (some destroyed by the father during moves) could not verify either the Canadian or American birth. Although it seems that most put his birth in America.

Now - for some Conspiracy comments regarding Obama and Arthur; in the vein of the JFK coincidences with Lincoln assassinations. (However, a tongue-in-cheek “biographer” making up a story couldn’t do better!)

Caps are MY highlights from a couple of internet sites regarding Arthur:

Arthur had never held elected office in his life, but had been more of a BACKROOM POLITICAL FIGURE. He also distinguished himself as a lawyer fighting a case in which he defended a BLACK WOMAN...

But there are interesting tidbits surrounding this story. First, several sources list Arthur’s BIRTH DATE as October 5, 1830, but Reeves said Arthur was actually born October 5, 1829 and changed the date out of vanity.

Arthur’s father was an Irish immigrant who first came to Canada, living in Stanstead and DUNHAM, Quebec.... [DUNHAM is where it is rumored that Chester had been born].

...As well, before he died, Arthur destroyed all his personal papers. And while Arthur was listed as being born in Fairfield, some residents believe he was really born in nearby Waterville, Vermont.

Don't underestimate the importance of American Citizenship. The Dunhams wanted their grandson to have as many opportunities as possible. By announcing the birth of Obama, they made sure he had all the opportunities possible. Remember the document is the Certificate of Live Birth which is NOT a Birth Certificate. I have both a COLB and a BC. I have not to date seen a copy of an official BC from Obama.

Bill O’Reilly and the rest of MSM are full of crap. There is no excuse for the POTUS not to follow the laws of this nation. Providing a Birth Certificate is one of the simplest things to provide. Not doing so is unacceptable. I find it unacceptable for an elected government official to be above the laws of this great nation. By doing so, Obama shows his disrespect to the people and the laws of this nation.

The Certificate of Live Birth Obama posted (real or not) is exactly like the Certificate of Live Birth I got when I was born in 1964 in North Carolina. Its a birth certificate. Its the SAME THING. What additional information do you think a Birth Certificate would have that wasn’t on the COLB???
