Why Is Bill Maher An Atheist?

Why is Maher an athiest? Because God doesn’t want him.

I had the displeasure of being in the same wedding party as Maher over the course of a long weekend in NYC years ago. He's intelligent and sharp, but uses those gifts for bad purposes. He insulted waitresses, stiffed people on tips, just generally made a total obnoxious asshat of himself all weekend. He didn't look to any of his companions to see if they were on board with his "brand" of humor. I believe he will do or say anything to make himself laugh.

He is his own god.

I don’t think Maher is an atheist. He probably believes in some god, just not God. Maybe Moloch, or Mammon, or Marx.

It’s probably a bit more elementary than that. The first question to ask a gay person, a gang member, an atheist, a communist, a druggie is this: how’s your relationship been with your mom and dad through the years?
