On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his companys website declaring that Carbonite had decided to withdraw advertising from Rush Limbaughs radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse:
Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
However, it hasnt done much to contribute to his companys stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points.

"I never heard of Carbonite before Rush."
You may have seen it and not known it.

a blow to capitalism at the same time—
I bought tea from twoifbytea...to help Rush. He is a sponsor of his own show.

I have to buy John Deere products sometimes but will work harder not to now. I was considering LegalZoom for a few things and Carbonite but no longer, the rest can kiss any future business goodbye too.

Your data should be quite well protected...if it survives the freezing process, that is.

IOW, we were gliding toward obscurity before. Now, we're racing toward it!!

I think Carbonite can access the info from your computer that they warehouse in a safe place, anytime they want to. I wonder if Obama ever asks them to make your info available to him. Who would know? If the data is in your house, the government would need a warrant, and you would know they were interested. If your data is on Carbonite's servers and a government official asked for it, and to not tell you they looked, how would you know?

Why else would she need birth control? I've always thought that liberal women only needed to use their personalities for contraception.

Most stocks took a dive today, including my paltry few.
Let's wait till we see how Rush's ex-advertisers do over a longer haul than just today.
I'll bet when the market goes up again, his rat sponsers will stay mired at their low pond-scum level.

I predict that as this nation polorizes more and more, businesses on average will decide there is too much public relations liability of being involved with the sponsorship of any kind of political commentary programs, and just ditch them altogether. That depends. If they figure out first that liberals are cheap, whiny, needy customers (if they are customers at all), while conservatives will part with hard-earned dollars for a worthy product or service, they might do otherwise.

His total statement on cancelling his own advertising was hilarious....

It was one of the first things he said when he started his show on Monday .... it was a ‘masterful’ way to start the day .... say what you will about Rush, the guy is just plain “good”!!
BTW, if there is a radio station in your area that carries the Rush show, contact them and thank them. I did this today & was shocked to find that the station in my area is under intense & organized pressure by the Left. I am trying to organize “the troops” in my area to send positive feedback to the station .... the Left has declared all out WAR on Rush .... this is one war we CANNOT lose. Cowering in silence is not an option ..... so I am DOING something.

What goes around comes around. I hope they all go under as a result of this. If they had stuck with Rush rather than desert him like turncoats with no moral core, they could weather the storm, as he will, and stand tall, maybe even pick up orders. However, they caved to our libertine society and freaked out, as a result, they are liable to go right down the toilet as their stock plunges or as millions of Limbaugh listeners desert them. My Carbonite oddly enough, is up for renewal in about two weeks. Guess who a) does not get renewed and b) gets a letter explaining why that has happened (Now I need a suggestion for a good alternative? Mozy-pro?.) Course their execs @ Carbonite will get handsome severance bonuses before getting scouted out to other firms where they can hang their MBA sheepskins. I feel sorry for the conservatives in that firm, lowever level employees who will get screwed because of their managements' feckless and cowardly response to this fiasco.
