Santorum Ad Hits Romney With His Own Words

The buzz before last night's GOP presidential debate was that former Senator Rick Santorum could solidify his front runner status with a win and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney could be in big trouble if he lost. Well, Mr. Santorum didn't win and Mr. Romney didn't lose and that's about all the news that was made at debate #20.

Forget those two tedious hours, a new 30 second ad from the Santorum campaign could have a much bigger affect on the race in general and Tuesday's Michigan primary in particular.

That anti-Willard the Lib ad should solidify Rick’s lead in Michigan with a lion’s share of the undecideds and a few more Newts moving over to Santorum...

ARG Michigan 2012 GOP Primary Poll

Among Definite Voters:

Rick Santorum 38%
Mitt Romney 34%
Ron Paul 13%
Gingrich 6%

Undecided 9%

The Detroit news which has endorsed Romney is now complaining that Romney edited their story for his own website.

The Boston Globe is smacking Romney over his attack on Santorum for endorsing Specter. They’re saying that its ridiculous to blame Santorum for liberals on the court when Romney himself passed over republicans and 3/4 of his judicial nominees were democrats.

Dick Morris was just on with Hannity on his radio show and said Romney has more charisma than Santorum or Gingrich and will probably win Michigan and then Arizona after this last debate and go on to win the nomination. I hope Santorum wins Michigan!

“Charisma” isn’t exactly the word I would use to describe Romney.

Dishonest

Manipulative

Underhanded

slimy

Sneaky

I think I’ve discovered our Eddie Haskell candidate of this round.

I’m in Rick’s corner but the ad is difficult to read (I had to watch it twice to catch all of it) and anyone who wasn’t already intently watching the television is not going to notice the ad.

Since it won’t get nearly the play of the Romney ads, I doubt it will have much impact.

Yes, I would agree with all those negative terms about Bishop Romney.

As far as charisma is concerned, he has almost none. Newt is more charismatic. Santorum is about the same as Romney (without being Dishonest, Manipulative, Sneaky, Slimy, etc.)

Obama has charisma (though it is artificially enhanced by the fawning media), Bill Clinton has charisma, Sarah Palin has charimsa, Reagan was charismatic. Bishop Mitt? At best you could say he is “presidential” in a sniveling, elitist, George Herbert Walker Bush kind of way.

Actually not that much of a SuperPAC gap in Michigan. Romney’s SuperPAC has spent $2.4M, Santorum’s $1.7M. http://bit.ly/xhsFg0

I thought I heard on Rush this morning that Newt is dropping out of Michigan. The thinking is that this way Santorum has a better shot at winning and this will stop Romney and in the long run help Newt. Has anyone else heard this?

Newt is not campaigning in MI. Nothing altruistic here like helping Rick. He is just short on money, very low in the polls and can’t spare the resources. I think he is putting all his eggs into GA. If he loses that state, he is totally done.

Newt isn’t dropping out but he isn’t actively challenging in Michigan. Its a good strategy for both he and Santorum really.
