From the somewhat guilt filled comforts of Greece, I have been thinking about what I learned from the recent Cairo SHTF experience. I am not putting myself forth as an expert of any sort and, frankly, many or even most items on the list below might be flat out wrong
.who the hell knows. We were in Cairo from Jan 25th until late Feb 3rd when the neighborhood gunfire became full-auto and regularly occurring. At that point, we decided that Friday prayers (the next day) might not yield a pleasant experience. We had no way of knowing that we had already seen the worst.

I’ve read articles recently on the utility of being capable of going to sea in the event of something nasty hitting the fan. I don’t have the skill or location for open ocean sailing, but for those that do it has a lot of possibilities.
Oh man - replied to the wrong person! Sorry mate!

You have zero reason to be on a thread you find distasteful - ZERO.
If you believe that the language at FR is starting to go over the top, you are totally free to open a thread on that subject.
BTW, I got news for you.
If the suds ever hit the fan, you are going to have a whole lot more problems than if someone is using a few cuss words.
You strike me as EXACTLY the kind of person that needs to read and learn from these threads!
Are you with PETA? People for the Ethical Treatment of Acronyms? You’re here to tell us about the possible evils of the letter “S”? Really?
I always did think a boat on the Ohio, or Tennessee rivers would be idea for a BOL. Especially if you don’t have a lot of people in your group.
I will take you at your word, and accept that you think that is what conservatives are trying to resist, the public promotion of the letter S.

I was going to ask for cliff notes to your lecture but from scanning it I see it is really blah blah blah blah
Are you a trouble making troll or do you just play one on the interwebs?
If your delicate sensibilities are so offended perhaps you should simply avoid “SHTF” posts. See, isn’t that easy? Your problem is solved!
I’m with you Kart.... Acronyms are fine here at FR. Have been since Oct of 98 at least.... Stuff hits the fan is fine for all ages an audiences IMO....:o)
Stay Safe....keep up the outstanding good job my friend.
We could learn to ignore all elements of the liberal agenda.
I suppose sensitive ears/eyes would rather have ‘when the fecal material hits the rotary blades’, but as a writer I’ve learned that in non-fiction writing at least, the less pristine yet just as expressive wording has much value. We’re discussing very serious issues of a life and death nature, so using coarse language may serve a purpose to convey that seriousness.
I prefer to think of “Stuff HTF” and it is not a problem. Not that I thought it was a problem anyway.
After almost a lifetime of involvement in survivalism, I see no reason for it suddenly to be taken over, and renamed in leftist, Bill Maher type language.
We manged to stay away from it in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s,in our survivalist books, magazines, pamphlets, and other writings, we didn’t try to start using it as our new name either.
Why is it so important to do this, some on this thread seem obsessed with keeping it, and defending it.
Yo kart, keep posting, these SHTF and Prepper threads are the only ones that my wife and I ALWAYS tune into as soon as they are posted. We have learned ALOT from the threads you start. Thanks!
I’ve never considered “SHTF” to be “an element of the liberal agenda”. If I lived my life as rigidly as you appear to I’d have an ulcer. My goodness!
Cussing is eternal,in private and such, but do you really not see the difference in conservatives accepting it into the mainstream, in changing the survivalist/prepper movement’s name to swear words, and incorporating it into our movement’s writings for our families and friends.
Why is it so important to do this, why the fight to do this?
The survivalist movement was doing just fine for generations, without this new, liberal twist.
