President Obama, I oppose your appointment of Michael Taylor, a former VP and Lobbyist for Monsanto, the widely criticized Genetically Modified (GM) food multinational, as Senior Advisor to the Commissioner at the FDA. Taylor is the same person who was Food Safety Czar at the FDA when Genetically Modified Organisms were allowed into the US food supply without undergoing a single test to determine their safety or risks. This is a travesty. Taylor was in charge of policy for Monsanto's now-discredited GM Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) which is directly linked to cancer and opposed by many medical and hospital organizations.
high tech food is good
food police suck
I agree. Nothing wrong with it. But choice is good also. Having a person enrich his former friends and business partners via the law isn’t moral.
You need to do a bit more research on the tactics and strategies of Monsanto.
Thanks for posting, I signed and sent. I like my food real and dont want my garden tomatoes confiscated by the FDA!
I also agree. Most of the modern food we eat has been modified over the last few centuries by using hit and miss methods. The GM approach does exactly what the hit and miss methods did but quicker. The potato famine in Ireland will not happen again because the potato has been genetically modified by modern science to resist the common potato blight.
Love the colorful corn also.
And the Dems complain about crony capitalism. Here it is, crony capitalism (which is not true free market capitalism), looking for more complex regulation, and trying to get more “pull” (and Rand described it). The Dems claim that the cure is even more government, when in fact more government causes more “crony capitalism”.
Monsanto scares the hell outta me.
Crops in Mexico were inadvertently cross pollinated with Monsanto crops nearby....the poor Mexican farmer’s crop was unable to reproduce seeds for the next planting season. Farmers in this situation have to buy seeds from Monsanto, if they wish to continue farming.
Bill Gates is rumored to have a stash of Heirloom seeds in the Arctic. Gee...wonder why.
(don’t know if I can find the video concerning this example—had a helluva time last time because it had been scrubbed from the internet, but you might be able to find it via Mercola’s site.)
Those who control the food control the people.
(and, let’s not forget Bath-House Barry’s “Safe School” Czar appointment—Kevin Jennings—taught “fisting” to high school students. Seems the ones he appoints are the most ironic choices for the job.)
Moveon.org sponsors this?
My head’s spinning, but, I stand by my post about Monsanto—scares the hell outta me.
This is unmitigated bullcrap. Whoever writes crap like this ought to have at least some understanding of the product he's condemning. This guy is clueless. He's uniquely unqualified to publish anything on the topic. Yet, here it is....
After Tom Vilsack and Michael Taylor where could the Obama administration go next? Michelle may have an organic garden but her husband's given Big Ag and Monsanto the keys to the door. Beachy ..... is a long time Monsanto collaborator who heads an institute which was established by Monsanto and academic partners with a $70-million pledge from the corporation. It's effectively a Monsanto front
Are you serious...do you really believe that organic doesn’t use chemicals. Do some research. They just “ok” what they use.
On the flip side, I’d rather eat chemicals than cow poop as fertilizer.
Yeah it’s just responsible for Cancer and Heart attacks sky rocketing in our Republic. Nothing here to look at.. now go back to sleep.
This graph should be posted at every Whole Foods.
Another example— to the FCC pushing through lightsquared, they ignore safety and transparency.
There were concerns in other countries with roundup (glyphosate) weed killer showing up in ground water and urine tests.
