My liberal "friend" who is from Alabama but now lives in San Francisco posted this link on her FB page knowing many of her friends live in Alabama. I sure would like to put her in her place, but this article made me so angry that I can't think of the right words to say. I could use the help of some good writers...we could do kind of a Cyrano De Begerac thing?? Thanks.
Complete BS.
Well we people in New Jersey get no respect
Last night on SPIKE TV “1000 WAYS TO DIE” describe one
of the soon to be deceased miscreants from New Jersey
as reflecting the state of mind as “loud, crude obnoxious”
---Although Alabama is a poor state, Republicans are trying hard to overcome the consequences of decades of Democrat rule. In fact, there are still quite a few Dems in our state government, though we ARE getting better, having presently and in the recent past gubernatorial elections elected a Republican. However, it is very difficult to overcome what was inherited from Democrats.
Actually, that is pretty truthful.
vaudine
The article was unnecessarily mean-spirited, but surely you don’t believe that intelligence is distributed evenly across the population?
Huntsville, AL probably has more PHDs per square mile than just about any other city in America.
Accept it as truthful with the following retort. The rich need to pay their fair share, Obama said so.
You are probably right if you narrow it down to “useful” PhD’s. No French Literature or Philosophy majors there.
It’s called cherry picking. Watch me do it:
2009 Educational Attainment by State:
Percent High school graduate or more for those 25 years old and over:
Alabama - 82.1
California - 80.6
You can put her in her place by telling her you no longer care to be friends with a hurtful bigot!!! By the way, she is not your friend!!!
Yeah, but which state has produced the last three college football champions?
I’m guessing those numbers include funds allocated for military bases. Perhaps someone more attuned to the subject can elaborate.
I agree. Oh and I live in Huntsville...electrical engineer..My daughter is a computer engineer. Most all my family work in space related work or defense. Highly technical city as is most of North Alabama.
The Red States are, by and large, agricultural states. Their numbers reflect the Federal monies paid to farm interests.
I have spent a great deal of time there working on defense-related programs as well (I’m an EE also).
Ah, pardon me, but this tends to make your friend's point. Is being inarticulate an IQ thing or educational quality thing? or -- both?
And is saying this the smartest tactical move?
What an incredibly stupid thing to say. Implying that she is inarticulate because she is temporarily having difficulty replying makes you the one with the low IQ. Considering what you’re going to say before saying it is the sign of an intelligent, thoughtful person.
To the OP: University of Alabama -- Huntsville is a highly regarded technical / engineering school.
Except for Amy Bishop, the Harvard-grad biologist who went postal after being denied tenure.
Cheers!
Go SEC! The NFL of college conferences.
