Time to close ranks behind Romney. He will beat Obama.
I agree completely. Without divine guidance and strength, there will be no good outcome.
Grinding Down America is incredible. Everyone can learn from it and it’s great to pass on to people whose minds are a teeny bit open.
“My big problem with a third party is this: If conservatives and other freedom-loving citizens cant even take over the GOP - and they cant as demonstrated by the lack of success at doing so since Reagan, then what makes them think they can create a viable 3rd party?”
You mean Romney isn’t the problem?
You mean the problem is the “true conservatives” can’t get organized and focused, and can’t persuade a majority of primary voters of the wisdom of conservatism?
“True Conservatives” maybe ought to start doing whatever it takes, to be more effective, instead of blaming everybody and everything else, and starring in victimhood roles.
Romney is merely filling a vacumn, left because of no obvious solid conservative frontrunner.
Solid as in not the “flavor of the week.”
Second, to say Romney is a conservative in any fashion is ludicrous.
Romney is pro-abortion.
Romney is pro-homosexual agenda.
Romney is pro-government mandated health care.
Romney is anti gun.
Romney is anti-Reagan.
Just to name a few.....
Tell us please why you think Romney is a conservative.
Big question, it obvious to everyone Romney is not a conservative and you claim to be one - so why do you support him. You say over and over that you do, however never reveal why?
I want to know how to block someone, too!
“Romney is merely filling a vacumn, left because of no obvious solid conservative frontrunner.”
Romney is just a typical northeastern politician.
There is a vacuum of conservatism because there is no National-to-Local organizational continuum to incubate conservative candidates.
It’s certainly not found in the GOP. The GOP is the “Big Government” party, as opposed to the Dems “Bigger Government” party.
I don’t know why conservatives can’t make more effective inroads into the GOP and effect conservative changes. I think the reason might be that the national GOP is willing to falsely trumpet belief in certain social issues important to conservatives as a trade-off for leaving the big-government status quo alone.
That’s apparently been good enough for conservatives thus far - and the strategy hasn’t even been effective for conservative social issues if we look at what has been done even when there is GOP control of the House.
I guess it makes people feel better that they can call themselves conservative. They don’t actually have an expectation of their candidates getting elected.
Sort of like zotting supporters of certain political candidates - it makes some people feel better - allows them to claim certain conservative attributes in online social circles, but really doesn’t accomplish a whole lot other than that.
Free Republic is the private property of Jim Robinson. It is a conservative, grassroots, activist site. Posters are here at the discretion of the owner. Those that do not support conservatives are shown the door. Them's the rules!
so am I my friend....this is do or die time....and I am not ready to go...
Do I smell ozone?
Add me to that list as well, please!
so why is it s good thing to ban someone wth a different point of view...so much for free speech...
Well, a couple things zotting definitely accomplishes is we don’t have to read their obnoxious propaganda or their hateful anti-Christian posts or endure their vicious flame attacks on FR and it ensures there’s one less promoter of godless liberal abortion and homo “rights,” etc, on FR.
FR is a more or less liberal-free, pro-God, pro-life site. Those who don’t share our Judeo-Christian conservative values, principles and goals are more than welcome to stay the hell away!
Those who don’t share our values and goals can post here to a certain point, but as soon as they turn vicious or aggressive in attacking our positions, principles, beliefs, candidates, causes, goals and or other FReepers, etc, they’re very likely to get the zot.
That’s the way it is and always will be. Those who don’t like it can leave.
Posting on FR is a privilege not a free speech right. FR is open to like-minded pro-God, pro-life, pro-small government, pro-big defense Judeo-Christian conservatives. Cross me on this, you can exercise your free speech rights and go postal elsewhere.
That does appear to be the case. Funny how a person can be a member of one of the most conservative communities on the planet for so long, and still support a big government liberal like Mitt Romney.
Such a person is obviously disconnected at the core, from the principles they espouse. Sorta like Mitt.
I was out of the house early this morning, and only just saw the news. I think Plutarch's last post to me was his opus, unless he got another one off before the lightning struck.
They sure are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden, aren't they?
Someone upthread said there were about seven zots in the last two days (may have even missed a couple).
“Free Republic is the private property of Jim Robinson. It is a conservative, grassroots, activist site. Posters are here at the discretion of the owner. Those that do not support conservatives are shown the door. Them’s the rules!”
I never argued the point you replied to. My point is that you can remove posters who have a particular affinity for certain candidates but it accomplishes nothing for the conservative cause. Not really. Conservatives are still unrepresented, for all intents and purposes in the GOP.
Posters who are not conservative don’t benefit FR or the conservative movement. They need to be removed.
Yesterday and today I’ve been pinged to 12 Zots and some were old timers. They were mittbots and paulbots.
Thanks for you your time, TOL!
Jim
I read a great post from a poster today talking about how some of us should be understood why we cant support Gingrich regarding his personal life for which I am not convinced he is a changed man. Frankly I don’t know if he is changed , I believe you think he has and have no problem supporting him, I think it is setting a bad precedent in going all in on this guy.
It is my opinion that many are setting aside principles on Gingrich to simply support him because he is the most electable among Bachman,Santorum,Perry. I believe it is best to lose a election on honor than to win with a seriously flawed vote.
I am so saddened that in this great country this is the lot we have to choose from. I wish congressman Ryan would reconsider. Well thats my 2 cents worth , regarding the free speech issue, people here should know this is a private business and it is a privlege to post here, people should honor the rules.
