Thanks for sharing, these look nice!
I like your long, flowing brush strokes.
Are you self-taught, attend a college of art, or had a mentor?
Personally,...I would like to find a private ( non-university based) art school or mentor that could provide formal and rigorous training in the fundamentals of 2-dimensional art.
At the moment, I am doing the Riven Phoenix program, “How to Draw the Human Figure From Your Mind”. It's been excellent. I am about 25% finished.
Don't do it, Mike. Keep posting up notices from your blog - your work is YOURS. The Copy Commies can take a hike.
Thanks! It keeps me off the streets at night.
I’m not very good with posting images anyway. But thanks for the tip.
Go ahead Mikey, be a blog pimp..........
The only difference between posting whatever it is you want people to see on your site and what you are pimping here is the "hits"........
And pimping on FR is frowned upon.........
Check out this website. You might find quite a few resources.
I have degrees in art, but I’m self taught. They never taught much realism in college. Abstract was pushed quite a bit as well as the idea that art is anything you want it to be. I did have a few good instructors. Not going to lie, but, I’ve learned more since college than I did in college.
The website link I proved here was quite a lot of info on it. It’s also the largest online museum in the world. At least, that’s what they proclaim.
Don't let it bother you, Mike. People who whine about "blogpimps" are usually low IQ losers who don't have anything creative or intelligent to share with others, and are envious of those who do. They're sort of like "copyright socialists," people who want you to "share for the greater good," and all that. Whining about "blogpimps" is about all they have going in their pathetic little lives.
At any rate, if you like, Freepmail me. I'm interested in this whole conservative art movement thing, even though I myself have about zero artistic abilities!
This is **art** . It's not one political essay. I'd say it would be rather awkward to fully convey the information in one massive post. The rational way to do it is provide a link to the blog.
Geeze! ( sigh!)
Love your work. I love Naples yellow—I still remember the day I bought that tube of oil paint ten years ago....and saw the results.
Do you have this information on your blog? I don't see the website in the thread responses.
What’s the big deal here. I posted this in personal, chitchat, arts hobbies and what ever else came close to that.
What does the title “personal” and chitchat mean? There is a system to link. And as for hits, I’m not getting any advertising here for hits or anything. There’s zero ads on my blog. It’s just so much more simple posting a link to my blog then attempting to post 26 different images on this page.
I am a member of our local art association and attend plein air competitions each year. The artists that I speak to say the same about their university programs. They weren't taught the fundamentals of art. They had to learn these on their own.
There is a school in school in my state that is rigorous and trains artists in realist art...but...there is a long waiting list. :-(
