I just came home from work to a phone call from my folks who informed me of the passing of my aunt Anne, otherwise known as Colonel Anne C. Jablunovsky, US Army (Ret). As an Army Nurse, she had served in both Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 26 years of active duty. Here's a photo of her from the Pacific Stars & Stripes with General Matt Ridgeway
Over Memorial Day in 2007, our hometown newspaper did a front page article on our family's military service, In this family, service to country runs deep, which captured some of her reflections and musings...she's wearing the red blazer in the feature photo. She served as a tremendous inspiration to me in her love of both God and Country. She was in so many ways everything that is good about this country, starting out quite literally as a coal miner's daughter and having traveled the world, and experienced horrific things, only to come home and live her life in the peace she had helped purchase for the rest of us.
An astonishing family story.
RIP Aunt Anne, and all who went before you.
Joe... you have my sincerest and most heart felt sympathies on the passing of your wonderful Aunt Anne. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time. She seemed like a wonderful lady and will be sorely missed by her loved ones. Please thank your family for her service to Our Country.
RIP Anne... Your family is a the very core of this nation.
My condolences. R.I.P. wonderful lady.
And a Jarhead Sergeant...

Joe,
Sorry to hear the sad news. May her soul rest in peace and may she gaze upon His face.
Sursum Corda
I am sure your aunt is responsible for saving many lives of our brave soldiers, marines, airman, and sailors during her army nursing duties. I am sure the Lord has ushered her into eternity and said well done thy good and faithful servant!
Thank you for the private note, MTT. Bumping to celebrate the life of my aunt with the morning crowd.
Thank you all again for your warm thoughts, condolences and sympathies. My sister and brother-in-law have been preparing the eulogy, and have elected to include some of the thoughts expressed by y'all on this thread.
RIP
Colonel Anne C. Jablunovsky, US Army (Ret)
