Just heard Herman Cain being interviews on Imus in the morning on WABC. Seems he's cleared up all the controversy - showing how the media takes things out of context. Not necessarily a Cain supporter, but could become one very easy. He's saying the right things. NOTE: you can probably catch the interview on WABC if they archived it.
Like it or not it is not just conservatives that are going to cast their ballots for President of the United States. While it is great to be supported by your base you have to keep in mind that their are more moderates, Indpendents and dare I say it Democrats than their are Republicans, RINOs and conservatives.
Good luck forcing me to care about this.
St Rick is a lying liberal scumbag and anything you say isn’t going to change that fact.
Would you mind not telling me what to do? You will not succeed in burying the truth. Not with me, you won’t. Cain is still going around claiming he never said it. He did say it. Without the truth, we have nothing.
I really, really like Cain.
Cain is lying. It’s clear. He said it. Now runs around everywhere saying he didn’t.
You trust Cain. You said so.
Knowing he is currently lying about what he said.
I’m outing you along with him, by posting his actual words that he now lies about.
I don’t care whether you care or not.
When the story on Perry first hit over the weekend, I looked at my husband and said glad this came out now. He needs to get out of the race now. Obama’s campaign will eat him alive if he gets the nomination
It was insensitive, not to mention stupid.
I agree Trib.
I back Cain and consider Perry my 2nd choice and I find all this is just a distraction from the real task at hand which is finding the best person to oust Zero. Obviously all the candidates are competing for the nomination but seeking to destroy each other is not helpful.
I’d rather concentrate on debating who is our BEST candidate not knocking them all down so there are no options (Romney=McCain).
Now I’m just laughing at your desperate screeching.
When Herman found out about it, that the Perry's actually painted over the rock on Hannity, he indicated that in that case he applauded what the Perry's did and realized he had been baited by the press.
I believe he should have told the reporter that he would check into it and call Rick Perry himself before responding. I believe now he owes Rick Perry and apology.
We shall see.
But, when it comes to conservative principles and his stand on the issues...outside of Sarah Palin getting into the race, I like what Cain has stood for, his life story, and his current stance on the issues good enough for him to have my support in the primaries.
I believe he, or Perry, or Gingrich, or Romney, of Bachman...and of course Palin too...can beat Obama and will vote for the one who wins the nomination. As of now, I'll support Cain unless I see something much more serious than this to detract from the message he brings and the momentum he is building.
What was insensitive?
Perry didn’t do what Cain claimed he did. He did the exact opposite of what Cain claimed he did.
Even Cain himself now admits that Perry did not act insensitively towards black people. The trouble for Cain is, now when the truth about the whole thing came out, Cain denies every saying Perry acted insensitively, but he did say it.
You aren’t informed.
You might try informing yourself.
That would help.
The problem with newbies around election times is they often do precisely what the Post did with this story: gin something up, spin it and get us to attack each other and our candidates (doing their work for them) over a non-issue rather than focusing on the real issues and Obama.
Duh! That was a spot on post by Tyrone13 .
The problem I had with the guy is that he gave the Al Sharptons of the world ammunition. He can’t take that back. I liked the guy up until Sunday, then he went for the cheap shot of trying to be a *McCain type*, in that he’s trying to please the LSM and pander to all the special interest groups when he pulled both the race card and the gay card. He’s not what we all thought he was, and deep down he’s just another *politician* like the rest, no more no less. I would like to see Palin make an entrance at this time, it would be the perfect timing, because Cain and Perry are now damaged goods.
Has he also “clarified” his previous stand against asassination of Americans overseas?
Cain towered over her in every way.
She had nothing to offer but predictable gotcha questions based on groupthink assumptions. Has she ever had an original thought? (Not that I know of, but I haven't seen her in years.)
To every one of her nitwit questions, Cain gave a thoughtful, intelligent, serious, well articulated response. He was very impressive.
I don't think ANYONE on FR is "focusing on the real issues and Obama" at the moment.
Now he has found out the truth. I believe he owes Perry an apology and perhaps he has already called him privatley and issued one...I do not know. I do know that he has said this in response now:
They painted over it. End of story! I accept Gov. Perrys response on that.
We shall see if Perry has a response to Cain on this. But my guess is that both men will now simply move on from it. It was a trap set by the liberal MSM from the get go and for a couple of days it worked. Now we know the truth of it and if the libs bring it up again they will get slammed over it.
One thing I noticed that the libs never said ... when Perry was hunting back then, and clear up to 1999 or 2000, Perry was a DEMOCRAT. The story could actually easily be made to work against them if they keep pushing it.
My guess is that the MSM believes it has served its purpose to raise questions about Perry in some minds, and got a knee-jerk out of Cain that he had to back off of and thus look weaker himself.
That's what they wanted, to hurt both men, and at this point the best thing we can do, now that we are all armed with the truth, is simply move on and see what the primary races and battles bring.
In the end, the real adversary is this:
Dittos, (although I think I'll say Romney <= McCain)
Agree
Cain is the only one of the candidates that I can listen to. I think it is because I trust him.
