One of the critiques of President Barack Obama has been that he hasnt been as strong an ally of Israel as his predecessors were, a concept trotted out by many of the 2012 Republican presidential candidates in various public statements.
But in an appearance on Sundays Meet the Press on NBC, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disagreed with that notion. He praised the American people and American lawmakers, including President Obama, for their support of Israel.
I think the important thing to understand is this, Netanyahu said. And this is the truth about America Israel enjoys tremendous bipartisan support, tremendous. And you just have to walk around the breadth and length of this country, you know fly, its a big country. And everywhere you go, you see this tremendous, tremendous sympathy and affinity for Israel. This is what, is one of the great blessings that Israel has in the 21st century. And I think that bipartisan support is expressed by any person who happens to be the president of the United States, including President Obama.
Netanyahu added that the same sentiment is held by Israelis about the United States.
Every one of the U.S. presidents represent and acts on the tremendous innate friendship of the American people to Israel, he continued. And by the way, a piece of news, Israel is one country in which everyone is pro-American, opposition and coalition alike. And I represent the entire people of Israel who say thank you America and we are friends of America. And we are the only reliable allies of America in the Middle East.

yowza, talk about theater of the absurd.
bush=friend, zero=friend, zero=bush. Does this mean that Bush was NOT a friend of Israel?
Wink, wink! Keep that money coming.
It’s a trap question from a journalist that he artfully evaded.
Nothing to see here.
Yeah...and all those hi-jackers on 9-11 loved America too!
He never said that and refused to answer the question. He said all Presidents are friends. It was obvious what he really thought.
Pray for America
>Disappointing to hear him say this.<
In his position, he has to be diplomatic and smart. He already knows Odumbo is hostile against Israel and he probably puked inside his mouth when he said it. Now wait until next summer when the elections will be on 3rd gear, and he will change his tune..
You’re correct, of course. Sure would have made for a much more interesting interview though, no?
Sounds like someone slipped Bibi some of Barry’s Special Kool-Aid...
Either he doesn’t think much of Bush, or he is doing a political dance with OZero.
Really? Truly? And here...I thought after seeing him interviewed on Greta the other night that he would be finally taking a stand... guess not. A great disappointment but.... guess it is to be expected.
Actually, if one looks at the side chatter which occurred after Bibi’s speech to the UN, there’s a video of Bibi and Bams where Bibi DOES praise America, American Presidents and Bams for support of Israel.
On that video (at cspan) Bibi wears a very pleased look on his face as he says what he says, and Bams looks like he’s very pleased with the praise, like his ego was thoroughly and properly stroked. He looks proud.
Sometimes one can draw more flies with honey than with vinegar. Perhaps this is what Bibi was doing, who knows the heart of a man but G-d? If it’s effective, it serves it’s purpose.
Bibi seems to be a very gracious man.
Nice fine line walking, Bibi. Hopefully you won’t have to put up with this idiot in the White House for too much longer. ‘America’ got your message.
I don't think "frightened" is the word I'd use ("concerned" would be my word), but he knows as well as you and me Obama's propensity for punishing people he doesn't like, in the Chicago way.
The Daily Quacker.
Or, God forbid, face the same fate as Rabin.
I am in the camp that believes Netanyahu spoke positively about Obama to protect Israel from any retribution.
And who knows, maybe Obama even strongly suggested that he would help Israel at the UN if Netanyahu would speak well of him in the US.
bttt
What could he say?
Sort of the equivalent of “Yeah, great. Whatever”
Obamma is sitting in his golf cart going "shut the hell up Bibi...enough already, youre making me look non muslim!"
What else is he going to say in public? O's the president of the United States whether we like it or not.
