As I have said before, it constantly amazes me to watch what the media describes as experienced senior campaign advisers fail to follow through and do their research. Know thy enemy is the first rule of politics 101 and yet supposed unbeatable campaign influence peddlers have failed to learn this lesson when it comes to Rick Perry. I t is downright amusing to watch the show.
<snip>
Perrys people will either leak something Perry has said that is damaging in the past or will leak something written to the media. It is either this or it is said in a debate or press conference. His campaign will give the opponent the time (perhaps a day, perhaps a week) to pontificate, make numerous statements to the media, put out an op-ed or a flier and then BOOM! out of no where comes the carefully researched counter punch from the Perry team. They will usually do it in the most public and splashy way-guaranteed to knock the opponent on his/her knees. He/or she will either have to back up their past actions or restate or renege on the ones just uttered. The opponent will have to have a hinged spine in order to whipsaw back and forth trying to re-cover. The opponent forgot to check for long term consequences before he JUMPED for the bait so temptingly hanging out there. I have witnessed this happen to both Karl Rove and to David Axelrods candidates.

Don't give him a pass-the guy chaired the Al Gore campaign in Texas in '88.
The letter to Hillary thanking her for trying to reform healthcare is another matter altogether.

My governor is Scott Walker ... I have a first-hand perspective of what a genuine conservative governor looks like, and Rick Perry doesn't measure up. There's not a candidate on that stage who would lose to Obama or "create" fewer jobs than Obama did. Even Huntsman would beat Obama. If the Perry hype is all about creating jobs and beating Obama, we've already "won" because Obama has defeated himself so thoroughly for us. Wasting an opportunity like this on a weak conservative is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Pure foolishness. I hope my fellow conservatives are made of sturdier material than that.

“Bachman is clearly a Romney operative.”
That is just plain silly.
You are thinking of TPaw.
I know, I know... all us Minnesotans look alike.
“She is doing OBama work for him.”
Good Lord, man. Of all the folk on stage tonight, who is the ONE which introduced legislation to overturn Obama’s signature legislation? And equates it repeatedly with RomneyCare?
My belle Michele.

Romney as a liberal I can see. McCain as a liberal I can see. Perry as a liberal I honestly don't get at all. I understand what you're saying. I don't think anyone here is saying Perry is a liberal...
But GWB was definitely not a liberal, and yet he grew the debt 4 trillion, he grew the Fed Govt massively, he was totally soft on immigration, he supported TARP etc.
I look at Perry and I see Bush all over again. Bush was the right guy for 9-11, but he would NOT be the right buy for 2012. IMO, for the unique situation we find ourselves in today, the right guy is ... a girl. :-)

Your fellow conservatives don’t make up the whole electorate, but you go ahead and find your candidate with the perfect conservative record. Unfortunately, that record will have to be a short one like Palin’s in order for them not to have a mistake or two. With experience comes lessons learned, and a few warts. That’s the price we pay.

Did you notice there are roughly FIVE ANTI-Perry Astroturf posts on this site right now and ZERO anti Romney, Bachman, etc....
NOW, The Perry haters are NOW running around posting there is a huge Perry operative conspiracy.
This is the same crowd who will help the Marxist get re-elected. And some of these Perry hater posters are working to make that happen.

One cannot, in my mind, do things that are clearly liberal and then claim to be a conservative. That's like saying Susan Smith was a great mom right up until the moment when she killed her kids. Perry's not conservative on so many issues that he does not qualify as a conservative, no more than Bush, no more than McCain and certainly no more than Romney. I know many of his supporters see that also as their defense of him on those issues usually falls far short of even making sense, much less convincing someone, anyone, that that he really is a conservative.
I do not believe my definition of conservative is any different than that of others -- they are just willing to defend what I deem indefensible -- probably because they truly believe Perry is the only candidate who can defeat Obama. And I don't buy that horse squeeze either.
I've got an early day tomorrow so I'm outta here. Good chatting with you.
Cheers,
-SoFo

The body language said it all tonight said it all.
She gave Romney a big kiss and hug and sneered at Perry.
She is broke and her campaign is dying fast.
Her bizarre accusation made against Perry was
pathetic.
She looked awful and come of bad.
Newt came off the best but he has been around.

I wonder how much longer she’ll hold out. She’s becoming an embarassment. I don’t think there is any way her stock went up after her performance tonight. She just managed to bring Perry down a point or two. Maybe Cain up a point. She sickens me.

I’m seriously thinking I may have to take a break from FR until the primary is over. This in-fighting is driving me crazy. The attacks on Perry calling him RINO and such are just so over the top.
To: so_real
Funny that you mentioned Bush. On another thread I just mentioned a bit ago that watching Perry reminded me a lot of watching Bush. BANG! Right in the ten ring...
Several here were seeing the same looks, expressions and demeanor on the mans face..

Oh, gross. Bachmann is running radio ads tomorrow telling a whopper about Perry. Saying Rick Perry signed a law to make taxpayers pay college tuition for illegal immigrants. She's perpetuating that lie that illegals get FREE tuition.

Not a bad idea. With a -20 presidential approval rating for Obama, for the first time in my lifetime a candidate with a "perfect conservative record" could actually win ... in a landslide.

Her body speaks my language.
Despite your nonsensical Bachmann/Romney bits, you are quite correct about Newt. He is the most intelligent and agile debater in the group. But not my fave.

Her comment was over the top and disgraceful.
To falsely accuse a fellow Goper on national tv was unreal.
