He also removed any doubt about whether he was packing heat by shooting out a chandelier in the ball room where he held his post-rally press conference. When confronted by horrified reporters, most still cowering under tables, he replied that the offending light fixture “looked too French,” as he calmly tucked the Smith & Wesson Model 500 back inside his jacket.Brilliant conservative commentator Jeff Jacoby then stood up and efficiently batted down the liberal “conservatives hate government” meme:
A disheveled CNN reporter with a visible wet spot covering his crotch indignantly challenged the Texas governor’s hostility to all things government. “Why do you hate welfare babies and infrastructure?” “You just want to blow up government!”
“Yeah,” replied Perry, eyes narrowing to slits, “and y’all don’t even want to know what I got planned for that yapping pack of French Poodles y’all call the press corpse.”
Governor Perry wrapped up the press conference by forcibly baptizing a crying msnbc reporter in a bucket of Jack Daniels while loudly shouting, “praise Jesus!”
But it isn’t highways or veterans’ programs or minority voting rights that conservatives find so objectionable about Washington. When Perry speaks of making the nation’s capital “inconsequential,’’ he isn’t proposing to dismantle the Hoover Dam. Hard as it may be for liberals to accept, the Republican base isn’t motivated by blind loathing of the federal government, or by a nihilistic urge to wipe out the good that Washington has accomplished.

No doubt. And even the Rove thing is little more than an act. They know Perry has to distance himself from Bush, so they're playing the game.

On a serious note, I don’t think anyone really knows yet where Perry stands on a lot of issues. Personally, I wish Allen West would run, I’ve seen him talk and his history, he’s impressive.

Dousing a reporter in Jack Daniels is only effective if you follow it with a lit match.
They see him as their Trojan Horse fooling the tea party, no doubt. He’s playing his role fairly well so far, but there are enough exposed wires for him to be taken down.
I wonder how it will play out with Palin over the next month. Could work in her favor if he neuters Mitt before he himself is fully exposed.

The fact that he supported TARP, and, more recently, raising the debt ceiling by nearly two and a half trillion dollars, should be enough for any self-respecting tea partier to reject him.
And his pro-choice for states views on abortion should keep any knowledgeable, principled pro-lifer out of his camp.
And border security? LOL...I can’t imagine why anyone who cares about it at all could possibly support this Grover Norquist Republican. I really can’t.
That photograph..of Perry shooting that 45 Colt...That’s the picture...that should be his schick...He should call every one of his rallies to order with that photo....He should pull out the 45 and get everyone’s attention...blanks of course. But that is the picture of taking back America with rugged individualism. Screw all of the northeastern Harvard, Yale, Princeton pricks who are girly men. This is the metaphor...that photo irritates the hell out of liberals...even scares them...they are not going to vote republican anyway...so, let’s have a little fun. Conservatives will get it.....let’s get down to buisness and create jobs....open the oil field for a million jobs, repeal obamacare, sell off Federal government and many federal lands which should not be owned by the government anyway, deregulate, abolish the dept. of education, the EPA, fire half of the bureaocrats, repeal Dodd-Frank. repeal Sarbanes/Oxley, (with the procviso that if bankers break the law, the prosecution will be swift and merciless), reinstitute Glass-Steagal, get back to some common sense, start a public relations thrust to make people appreciate and feel passionate about FREEDOM. I differ with you in that I don’t think a third party is the way to go presently, but I certainly agree with you re: Perry.
