Who Was The Winner of Tonight's Debate?
Elephant Watcher ^ | August 11, 2011

Posted on 08/11/2011 8:19:24 PM PDT by DeskCaptain

"The third primary debate was held tonight. Which candidates helped themselves, and who ended the night in a worse position?

Tonight was Jon Huntsman's first appearance at a primary debate. Unlike Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, who offered "red meat to the base" during their first appearances, Huntsman just fit in. Being a firebrand is simply not in Huntsman's personality, and he never attacked Mitt Romney, the man standing in his way in New Hampshire. Huntsman also suffered from receiving few questions. It's still unclear whether Huntsman is willing to do what's necessary to make a genuine run for the presidency...."

Newt shined by taking on the MSM idiots!

I thought Herman Cain looked like the only adult on the stage.

Elephant Watcher is a RINO garbage website. Christie is their approved candidate with 66%? Get the hell out of here. That fat gasbag isn’t running and if he were, he would be in the Romney wing of the party.

Christie is not perfect, but he’s miles better than Romney. For one, you know where the hell he stands. He’d be a great guy to campaign, he’d be great addressing problems during his term...spending cuts, entitlement reforms, etc because he could sell it to the people. He’s actively pro-life. He just happens to be poor on several key issues.

Newt resurrected himself from the dead. But debates are his strong suit, so it’s not exactly a surprise.

Bachmann emerged as the winner of the personal battles (vs. Pawlenty and Santorum). She also did well overall.

“not Huntsman, not Pawlenty. they were lame”

I agree. Both are out as far as I am concerned.

Newt, hands down won the debate and to be honest with you, he really made the others look way out of their league.

Romney did not lose anything as frontrunner. Will be very interesting to see him debate Perry. I am not convinced that Perry is all that quick on his feet.... as he will need to be to go all the way.

I liked Bachmann, Cain and Santorum.

I liked Gingrich tonight too, but he has no chance. I think he knows that and is using his campaign to achieve something. His closing remark was about leadership right now, and urging citizens to tell congress to start doing things right now. I thought that was great. He's focused on "now", not 2012. That tells me he cares about the country and knows that he will not be president.

No big winner but I was delighted to see Newt shut Wallace down!

or, Ron Paul. I loved the Santorum line that Paul is mostly wrong, but not always wrong.

I liked Paul’s thought about cancelling the 1.5 trillion in treasuries the Federal reserve is sitting on and drawing entrust on. WTH? What are they doing with that?

True! He even stayed within in the rules - answered the questions and rarely strayed over the idiotic time limit!

The candidates slapped several of the media around. I liked that.

Agree. Newt made himself part of the top 3 tonight and needs to find a way to keep the mojo.
