As astonishing as this may sound, I can see the day coming when Christians in America will beg radical Muslims to come here and save us from the radical, Satanic secularism that we have brought upon ourselves.
So long as you don’t mind the Muslims ruling over the rest of us, sure.
But statements aside, radical Islam is not our friend, either, even though they are the enemy of the public gay rights agenda.
The real reason for not going after the mosques is divide and conquer. Think about it, if your opposition has a slight majority, no better way exists than to ensure the components of your opposition are against each other. Going after mosques would have two effects:
1) Generate sympathy and degrees of solidarity between the Muslims and the Christians, as they now have a common misfortune of some #%^&$@*%* desecrating whatever it is they feel is sacred. That’s the moderate side.
2) Simply provoke the radical elements, and bring their wrath around to a higher swing, simply because some of the allegations from the Imams are actually arguably true, and appear less like propaganda in their nature.

No question that Cuomo is self-excommunicated, on many grounds. And maybe if he doesn’t repent, he will burn in Hell.
Nevertheless, he and other politicians like him still poses as a Catholic, and gets a good part of the Catholic vote.
If the bishops came out publicly and publicly excommunicated him, that might not lose him the vote of all the bad Catholics, but at least it would make it clear where things stood.
It’s a political thing. It’s also an educational thing. If the bishops SEEM to be letting bad behavior prevail, then bad behavior will spread among the stupid. It’s their job to educate the stupid.
The Bishop's may not have been able to stop the law, but they sure as hell can stop Cuomo from receiving the Eucharist!
I still feel that I am in the right place though. Despite some of the cowardly Bishop's that we have, the Church as a whole sticks to it's principles and that is what I like. Some of Bishop's may choose not to act when they should, but the Catholic Church does not waver. There have been some very outspoken Bishop's in the past that did indeed meet with people to tell them not to receive Communion. Cardinal Egan advised Guliani not to receive Communion, however, Guliani disobeyed him and received it anyway. Needless to say, Egan made it perfectly clear that he was not pleased and he did this publicly!
I don’t think this will pass. The separation of church and state doesn’t allow for the state to control the churches.
Cuomo has excommunicated himself already. Latae Sententiae excommunication, I believe, is what it is called.
Too many people are ignorant of the fact that so-called gay “marriage” isn’t about giving rights to perverts; it’s an assault on religious belief and practice. Once the majority figures that out, there will be hell to pay.
Well, think about it. Who would you rather have ruling you? Muslim despots or atheist despots?
I agree with you that I would hope for neither, but I would choose the Muslim rule if I had to choose between the two and nothing else.
(CNSNews.com) - As New York enacted a law late Friday that legalizes same-sex marriage in the state, the Roman Catholic bishops of New York released a statement saying they now expect efforts to enact laws that go after churches that insist on teaching the "timeless truths" about marriage and family.
"We strongly uphold the Catholic Church's clear teaching that we always treat our homosexual brothers and sisters with respect, dignity and love," the bishops said.
"But we just as strongly affirm that marriage is the joining of one man and one woman in a lifelong, loving union that is open to children, ordered for the good of those children and the spouses themselves," the bishops said. "This definition cannot change, though we realize that our beliefs about the nature of marriage will continue to be ridiculed, and that some will even now attempt to enact government sanctions against churches and religious organizations that preach these timeless truths."
The statement was signed by the bishops of all eight Roman Catholic diocese in the state of New York, led by Archbishop Timothy Dolan of the Manhattan-based Archdiocese of New York. The other bishops signing the statement included Bishop Howard Hubbard of the Albany Diocese, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of the Brooklyn Diocese, Bishop Edward Kmiec of the Buffalo Diocese, Bishop Terry LaValley of the Ogdensburg Diocese, Bishop Matthew H. Clark of the Rochester Diocese, Bishop William Murphy of the Rockville Centre Diocese, and Bishop Robert Cunningham of the Syracuse Diocese.
The New York State Senate passed the same-sex marriage bill late Friday and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Catholic, signed the bill into law at 11:55 Friday night. The state assembly has passed the bill the week before. The law will go into effect in 30 days.
The law was enacted just in time for New York City's annual "gay pride" parade, which takes place on Sunday. The parade runs along Fifth Avenue, passing directly in front of Saint Patrick's Cathedral, the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of New York.
"The passage by the legislature of a bill to alter radically and forever humanity's historic understanding of marriage leaves us deeply disappointed and troubled," the New York bishops said in their statement.
"We worry that both marriage and the family will be undermined by this tragic presumption of government in passing this legislation that attempts to redefine these cornerstones of civilization," they said.
"Our society must regain what it appears to have lost--a true understanding of the meaning and the place of marriage, as revealed by God, grounded in nature, and respected by America's foundational principles," said the bishops.
The Declaration of Independence justified the American colonies' break from Great Britain based on "the Laws of Nature and Nature's God" and famously stated that all men "are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights."
New York State Sen. Ruben Diaz was the only state senator to speak out against the same-sex marriage bill on the Senate floor yesterday. "God, not Albany, has settled the definition of marriage a long time ago," Diaz said.
Diaz is a minister in the Church of God.
Full text of the bill's amendment to protect religious liberty: A8520-2011: Relates to the ability to marry; amends a chapter of the laws of 2011, as proposed in legislative bill number A. 8354, in relation to the statutory construction of such chapter
Despite the amendment, there are still many questions raised at the parish level. For example, we have several gay individuals living in 'committed' relationships. Assuming, in the case of the two women, they decide to marry (outside the church), are we obliged to alter our mailing list to reflect their 'married' status and direct mailings to "Mrs. so and so" and include her 'spouse', as we would do for traditionally married couples, in special invites?
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Among the parishioners, are immigrants whose English is good but limited. My personal concern goes to those whose children are enrolled in public schools. Having followed the evolution of events in MA, do we offer them guidance or advice regarding what to expect may be introduced into the PS curriculum?
It is so insidious!
Believe me they also knew it was the Feast of Corpus Cristi.
Which reminds me: I can't wait until Mayor Koch weighs in.
People rely on the state to uphold a just society. The state must be held to the standard and do its part. I’m sure the Pope said something to that effect.
And one more for the road...

If man can give religious exemptions he can also take them away. I expect attacks on the exemptions soon.
Since America has slapped away the merciful hand of Christ, it would not surprise me one bit should God raise up the sword of Ishmael against us.
I see a lot of squabbling amongst the various denominations of Christianity. Let’s hope we can unite and defeat.
