assuming it is real*, it’s the only ‘official’ document that shows his father’s country of citizenship is not the US at the time of 0bama’s birth. this would make 0bama a native born American citizen... NOT a natural born citizen

Unfortunately, you can’t be tried twice for the same crime in the court of public opinion.
I have no love for Mr. Obama and his minions, but I do believe the birther stuff is a distraction, and does little credit to the people that espouse it. But of course, this will have no effect on the birthers.
At most, Obama would be quietly sent into retirement, feigning illness or some sort, and the whole issue would be brushed under the carpet.
Otherwise, it would put every appointment, every executive (presidential) decision, every action in jeopardy. Repeal it all? Let is stand? The repercussions would create a National crisis, since he has appointed, and the Senate has confirmed, for example, 2 SC justices. What of their decisions and opinions while they were on the court? And every other justice appointed by Obama and confirmed by the Senate? What about policies and decisions by the Cabinet appointees? Who would succeed -- Biden or would McCain be deemed the successor or the House Speaker?
The House and the Courts abrogated their responsibility/authority by failing to address the issue before the election and certainly within the first 90 days after the inauguration. Neither now wants to be responsible for creating the Constitutional/National crisis that would be created by establishing Obama’s presidency as illegitimate.
Additionally, it would open up the Nation to private lawsuits brought against the government at many levels.
It is easier for the governmental authority to keep heads buried in the sand on this issue.
I’ve never believed Obama was eligible but it became apparent pretty early on that it wasn’t going to remove him from office.
Better to push the states to do their jobs to insure that candidates are legit before putting them on ballots.

I think the good reason is that they would have to admit they didn’t vet this clown properly to begin with, we were all so proud to have a ‘clean” black man running. If they touch it now it exposes their serious dereliction of duty circa 2006-2008.
