Hi, FRiends. Was just looking for little levity and dreamed up this thread for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Please ignore if you don't want to play.
So what is your favorite science fiction-themed rock (or other musical genre) song? There are the obvious ones such as "Rocket Man" or "Space Oddity" but I'm curious as to what else is out there.
My choice is Queen's "39" from "A Night at the Opera," a bittersweet Brian May tale of the potential heartbreak among loved ones when some of them go on an interstellar voyage looking for a new planet. Probably my favorite Queen tune.
Your mileage - especially in light years - may vary.
Cheers, Jim
You are truly evil. lol
When I read this the first two songs that came to me were,
Black Blade
Veterans Of the Physic Wars
Then two others came to mind.
Don’t Pay The Ferryman ( Chris de Burgh) &
Renegade (by Steppenwolf)
Hawkwind is cool!
I have two of their 8 tracks.
Boy that dates me.
Just watched Rocky Horror Friday Night on Netflix — it was too many years ago (25? 30?) that I used to go to the Midnight Friday showing in Hollywood so I was fortunate to find a cheat sheet with all the responses. It included some I didn’t recall but I am sure I looked strange alone in my apartment yelling “A**HOLE” to no one in particular.. :)
Well, that's what sci-fi about it!
Does “Woodstock” by Joni Mitchell and “The Joker” by Steve Miller count?
>>You are truly evil. lol<<
Yeah, ain’t I something?
Have a look at this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioH0POPyeEQ I know it word for word...
How about “Stonehenge” or “Rock and Roll Creation” by Spinal Tap?
Exodus by Fates Warning
And ya gotta throw Devo in there...
