Governor Palin Gives the Media a History Lesson on Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride

The mark of any successful political venture by Governor Palin often results a misrepresentation of her words that only leaves the media with egg on their faces. Governor Palin’s bus tour has been successful in allowing her to highlight the greatness of the history of America, meet everyday Americans and fellow politicians, and share her policy stances on everything from fishing regulations in New Hampshire to ethanol subsidies to the debt ceiling. Such successes leaves the media grasping at proverbial bendy straws. Today’s news is no different. Poised with the opportunity to more appropriately address political stories essentially pre-written for them, such as abysmal jobs numbers under the Obama administration or the newest report that the federal government lends financial aid to the very same countries from whom they borrow , the media have chosen to focus more on their own historical ignorance by creating a story out of a non-story and misportraying Governor Palin’s comments on Paul Revere yesterday:

My kid’s learned about the Industrial Revolution at home a few weeks ago. The HISTORY teacher skipped that part of the text book so they could spend three fricken weeks on their Earth Day project.

My kid’s celebrated the Industrial Revolution on Earth Day by turning on all the lights. After looking at me funny - their “Did you turn off the light in your room” dad. (When they realized I was serious, they couldn’t run around fast enough turning them all on!)

Yeah, I am concerned. She’s the most legitimate conservative political figure we’ve got and instead of focusing on bringing down Obama, she’s embarked on a “family vacation” paparazzi tour. I want her to s**t or get off the pot, frankly.

Oh man, I really want the American army to defeat Hitler. But they’re wasting time invading Normandy. I want them to s**t or get off the pot, frankly.

I remember getting the RW in 3rd grade, again in 7th and more in 11th. Hard to love your country if you don’t know the first thing about it. Gee...almost like someone planned it that way...

Oh! I have the answer! What we need are more union teachers and less education!!! (sarcasm)

My thoughts as posted on another thread:

There are mistakes that speak of ignorance, and mistakes that come from speaking without a teleprompter. Here is the sentence again:

“He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed.”

That is your mind going faster than your tongue. Yes, she KNEW that Paul Revere wasn’t warning the British. Her mouth combined two thoughts - Paul Revere gave warning, and the British were not going to get the guns. Let me help you:

1 - “He who warned, uh...uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed.” and

2 - “uh, the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms uh”

Significantly, there are uhs present. Anyone who speaks a lot in front of people will sometimes combine sentences in an ugly manner. If she had WRITTEN this, I’d be freaked.

But SPEAKING, with a thousand people listening (or even 2-3 in my living room, for example), using no notes and not reading a prepared script, then yes, you will get combined thoughts at times.

The ONLY reason these media clowns are following Sarah around is to find a way to destroy her. That is their reason for living, their reason for breathing, eating, sleeping, is to destroy this woman. Since 2008 that is all they have going for them..they hope on this trip that they can just get one morsel, anything that they can use against her and run with it on the evening news..meanwhile Obama doesn’t know what year this is, talks about 57 states and they say NOTHING, why, because everyone in the damn media voted for him, will protect him til his last dying breath

My daughter sent me the youtube clip. After listening to it, I had to remind her that her ancestors were called to the Green at Lexington by the ringing of the church bells so they could defend their cache of weapons.

from www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/lexington.htm

Paul Revere arranged for a signal to be sent by lantern from the steeple of North Church - one if by land, two if by sea. On the night of April 18, 1775 the lantern's alarm sent Revere, William Dawes and other riders on the road to spread the news. The messengers cried out the alarm, awakening every house, warning of the British column making its way towards Lexington. In the rider's wake there erupted the peeling of church bells, the beating of drums and the roar of gun shots - all announcing the danger and calling the local militias to action.

In the predawn light of April 19, the beating drums and peeling bells summoned between 50 and 70 militiamen to the town green at Lexington. As they lined up in battle formation the distant sound of marching feet and shouted orders alerted them of the Redcoats' approach. Soon the British column emerged through the morning fog and the confrontation that would launch a nation began.

Palin again shows the media how stupid they are.

Im sorry but when did Sarah Palin alert the media that this was a campaign bus..she said from the beginning she was embarking on this trip to view the different sites..she NEVER once said that this was a campaign bus or that she was testing the waters, that was spun by the media, NOT her

Sarah should have just echoed my thoughts on Paul Revere ...

Paul Revere - Arguably the first FReeper - he didn't even have dial-up but he had a horse
and made historic use of it.

As I pointed out on other threads lately...

Interesting how just a little while ago Barak the 1st hired people to go out on the net and promote his agenda. I would assume that that included attacking his enemies.

And suddenly on FR, there are all sorts of ‘concern trolls’ and others hammering down the best and brightest (ideas and people) in the conservative ranks with total BS attacks, lies and spin.

What a coincidence.
