Over time, blacks have become more sympathetic to Palestinians, but they won't express their views loudly -- despite President Obama's plunge into the Middle East conflict.
... In the mid-20th-century civil rights era, Jews were some of our staunchest supporters when we woke up with "our minds stayed on freedom." In the Mississippi about which Nina Simone so famously sang, the three civil rights workers lynched in 1964 included two Jewish men. After the fight for voting rights, most dramatically demonstrated by the Selma-to-Montgomery march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965, blacks and Jews found less to agree upon -- especially when affirmative action took center stage.
But for decades, many blacks have increasingly identified with Palestinians because they see them as underdogs in the superpower plays that cast Israel as the bully, supported by billions of dollars from the U.S. government and a very activist Jewish-American community. Palestinians appeal to many of us because of their enduring freedom struggle. We can identify with being displaced and dispersed, with having limited rights, with poverty, with being stigmatized. Even former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is reported to have privately pointed out the obvious parallels with the black experience.
Before President Obama, when blacks tried to point out that Palestinians have a freedom song that should be heard, they got into trouble. Jesse Jackson, who has committed a number of gaffes when it comes to American Jews and Israel, embraced Yasser Arafat in 1979 and again in 2002 -- each time to widespread censure. Arafat, the über-Palestinian leader, died in 2004 without realizing his goal of a Palestinian state and without convincing Israel that he was a man of peace.

“they see them as underdogs in the superpower plays that cast Israel as the bully, supported by billions of dollars from the U.S. government and a very activist Jewish-American community.”
I don’t think that is the issue. It’s a dollars and cents issue for them. They view it in terms of guns v. butter. If the government spends a lot of money helping Israel, then that means the government has less money for government handouts. And naturally, like the Europeans, the black community wants to pander to the side that has the money, ie. the Arabs.
Conservatives tend to think of the issue in terms of principle, and in terms of security, which the liberal blacks don’t care about.
Gadhafi has been tied to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obamas spiritual adviser for more than 23 years.
The Libyan dictator also has financed and strongly supported the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. Obama has ties to Farrakhan and his controversial group.

I suspect part of the problem is that Arabs are seen by American Blacks as “people of color” and Jews are seen as European Whites.
Of course the irony is that Jews, have supported American Blacks without question, whereas Arabs in Africa treat Blacks like dirt.
True. Arab money to Black causes to help it along, for many years.
ML/NJ
Most likely the Black Americans who identify with the Palis do so because of the enormous propaganda inflicted on them by the many leftist black intellectuals (like the scribbler who wrote this article) and the black muslims. American Jews have always defended and supported Black interests, not always the best interests for the country as a whole, and it didn’t stop after 1965. Another typically dishonest column by a leftist.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Many Jews were injured and even died during the Civil Rights struggle in this country. We Black folk need to remember and honor that.
Right On! Muslims have and continue to massacre black Africans, were and still are the slave traders. Why blacks have such confusion is largely a result of the so-called leaders of the black community who sow resentment and victim hood to their adherents.
These so-called leaders are modern day slave masters in that they have enslaved the soul and spirit of modern American blacks. Non-American blacks do not have such confusion.
The Palestinians have acted stupidly.
In the antebellum south, slaves bodies were in chains but their minds were free. On the new plantation, their bodies are free but their minds are in chains.
If gets a second term, Rev. Wright Jew-hater man will be invited to spend the night in the White hut. His second term with be raw, straight up muslim radicalism.
Dumb as rocks......
Obama and his so-called "reverend" Wright are Black Liberation revolutionary communists. Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground also advocated Black Liberation revolutionary communism, as does/did the Black Panthers and Farrakhan. Black Liberation Theology uses bogus religions to advance the communist cause.

SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate
Kathy Shaidle, FrontPageMag.com
Monday, April 07, 2008
In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obamas pastor in a heated interview about his Churchs teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...
Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.

Catholics for Marx [Liberation Theology]
By Fr. Robert Sirico
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, June 03, 2004
In the days when the Superpowers were locked in a Cold War, Latin America seethed with revolution, and millions lived behind an iron curtain, a group of theologians concocted a novel idea within the history of Christianity. They proposed to combine the teachings of Jesus with the teachings of Marx as a way of justifying violent revolution to overthrow the economics of capitalism.
The Gospels were re-rendered not as doctrine impacting on the human soul but rather as windows into the historical dialectic of class struggle. These "liberation theologians" saw every biblical criticism of the rich as a mandate to expropriate the expropriating owners of capital, and every expression of compassion for the poor as a call for an uprising by the proletarian class of peasants and workers.

Unity generates power to change reality
By the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
"The time has never been more ripe for a strategic relationship between the Black, Brown, Native American and the poor of this nation and the world."
"We need a Ministry of Defense. Our young men are born soldiers, but they are in the wrong war. They are fighting a war in the streets of America against each other, or they are fighting an unjust war overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. We need to bring our boys home and put them into the Ministry of Defense, so we can defend our communities, rather than destroy our communities.
We need a Ministry of Art and Culture. We applaud the hip hop community, the leaders of young people all over the world, but I want the young generation of artists to know there is a bigger purpose for art and culture than popping our fingers and shaking our backsides.
Mao Tse Tung, throughout his long march to conquer China, had a billion people whose lives he had to transform. Many of them were victims of opium, drugs and prostitution, like we are. But Mao Tse Tung went to the cultural community and they accepted his idea. Then, through song, dance, poetry, drama, documentaries, movies and books, the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people. China became a world power on the base of culture and the artistic community. If we had a Ministry of Art and Culture in every city, [we'd] create this movement [in the U.S.], we could say to our young people, What is the idea of the Time and are you reflecting that idea in your songs, dance and music?
We need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce. Do you think that a Millions More Movement should not be involved in the development of Africa, the Caribbean and Central America? ... we need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce that can link the struggle here with Africa and the Caribbean, Central and South America.
