Awesome - I will show my son later. He and I have been watching a series of WWII documentaries lately so this is really great to come across.

Just think, when we went into Iraq they made them take down the flag.

Also Haiti during the hurricane relief.

Even FDR would have been ashamed of that.

How many of these would it take to secure the Arizona border?

Dozen ought to suffice lol

Wow, I've never heard of this. Read the text below the pics!

Here an RAF pilot "tips" a Fieseler Fi 103 (V1) by flipping it's wingtip with his, thus knocking the flying bomb off-course. British pilots had to get far too close to shoot them down without being taken out by the explosion... thus the innovative technique evolved.

Where do you find such courage? That’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen. I had read about it, but I didn’t know photographs of it existed.

Yep. They gyroscopic guidance of the V1 couldn't handle being tipped like that. The Gloster Meteor was the first operational allied jet, and while it wasn't used in combat like the German Me262, it became the preferred medicine for anti-V1 work...the two became so associated with one another that some model kits were made including both...

Thanks for posting ... my dad was USMC and was at Guam and Bougainville.
The lack of camouflage helmet covers in the first two pictures would indicate the troops were Army GIs, not Marines.
I was unaware the Army made those landings. Time to do some double checking.
