Please find it in your hearts to pray for Amy Joanne Loughner and Randy L. Loughner, the parents of mass murderer Jared Lee Loughner.

These two people raised a troubled, mentally unstable son who committed a horrific act today…but I don’t see any evidence these two are bad people who had any knowledge of what their son was planning...

The system worked. Just ask Incompetano. The problem here is too much gov’t. It’s time to put the kooks in the kook house. The kook mainstreaming experiment has failed.

Maybe they fill his head with this stuff. I don’t know what kind of people they are.

I pray that justice is swift for Jared.

And that his turd family wakes up from their evil and sick ways, never to bother innocent freedom loving people again.

I can’t imagine either. I don’t know what his parents did or didn’t do. I would like to think they did everything that they could do. But, we’ve seen this type of thing happen in the past, where the parents either turned a blind eye or make excuse for their child instead of getting the help they need. I’m thinking Columbian(sp?).

Not I. No way. Not now, not ever!

Mass murderer's aren't born, they're made.

I don't pray for mass-murderers and the people who made them, any more than I'd pray for Hitler or Stalin and the people who made them.

I’m beginning to suspect Sheriff Dupnik (if I have his name spelled wrong anyone feel free to step in and correct it) knew about Jared’s problem and didn’t do anything legally about the threats due to his own politics and that of Jared’s parents.

It's possible, but, I would think more likely it's the liberal left mindset. They hold no one accountable for their actions. Unless you happen to be a white male, Christian, Republican, or conservative. And the old, he/she's a victim and we need to coddle him/her.

That’s a real good possibility. The liberal left doesn’t hold themselves accountable for anything. It’s always someone else’s fault, preferable a Christian or conservative.

It’s easy to pick out the posters here who don’t have kids. Kids sometimes do things that *nobody* can predict. I haven’t seen anything in his past that would have lead them to institutionalize him.

So far, way more evidence that Klebold and Harris families should have known of their plans for Columbine than exists for this guy.

Blaming the family is not called for unless someone can prove that he was clearly demonstrating he was a danger. The standard some people wish for could be turned on many of us. How many freepers have a relative who opines that the freeper is anti-government, concerned that they love their guns, a loner who reads wierd books, etc.

Unless this guy’s family knows he was a threat for a good reason, and not just a loner, we shouldn’t be blaming them.

Mass murderer's aren't born, they're made.

Schizophrenia is a brain chemical imbalance. It has very little to do with how a child is raised. The best parents in the world could end up with a paranoid schizophrenic Jared Loughner as a son.

YES, what pepperdog said about mentally unstable family members. I tried getting a sister committed once....probably would have really helped....I was told she had actually attempt to HURT someone first...not just SAY she would. (We had written evidence where she talked of poisoning me.)

Thats bullcrap. With the best parents on earth,,, you have your 10% of kids that will still go bad. With the worst deadbeat drunk of a parent,, you get your 10% of kids that will rise above the worst of parenting.

It’s childish to blame this on the parents. PS, for bonus points, explain to us how two kids with identical parents and upbringing grow up with one winding up successful and respected, and the other becomes an embarrassment or a criminal. It happens to families every day.

What a beautiful, Christlike response.

" But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you..."

~Matthew 5:44

Christians, and our God, can multitask.

I don’t know about institutionalization, but there were plenty of danger signs that were ignored.

“As we understand it, there have been law enforcement contacts with the individual where he made threats to kill,” [Sheriff] Dupnik said during a press conference Saturday evening. But he wouldn’t say who those threats were aimed at.

http://www.npr.org/2011/01/09/132780313/sheriff-accused-shooter-unhinged-made-threats?ps=rs

Sheriff Dupnik perhaps feels guilty he didn’t do more?

Jared Loughner was kicked out of college for his behavior and the recommendation to his parents was he be psychologically evaluated and certified not to be a danger to himself or to others before being readmitted to college.

Did the parents do ANYTHING to help their son?

The college sent his parents a letter indicating he'd not be allowed to return without a mental health evaluation.

Did the parents get the letter and what, if anything, did they do about it?

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what parents do, a kid just goes his own way. Prayers for ALL parents is a good idea.
