Please find it in your hearts to pray for Amy Joanne Loughner and Randy L. Loughner, the parents of mass murderer Jared Lee Loughner.

These two people raised a troubled, mentally unstable son who committed a horrific act today…but I don’t see any evidence these two are bad people who had any knowledge of what their son was planning...

The Sheriff of the county where this attack occurred has said that Jared had made many threats though the Sheriff did not detail who were the intended targets (as per interview on FNC)..

So why didn't the Sheriff do more to stop Jared? Is it because of Jared Loughner's parents? After all, his mother, Amy Joanne Loughner, is a State of Arizona employee (she works in Natural Resources).

I have wondered about that. I found the references to her employment by Arizona Natural Resources. But there was very little else to be found.

Was Loughner still living at home, or had he moved out? Did he have any kind of job? I know he tried to enlist but was turned down.

Why didn’t the parents take action? Did they ever try involuntary committment for their son?

Yeah, he was living at home.

I’m beginning to suspect Sheriff Dupnik (if I have his name spelled wrong anyone feel free to step in and correct it) knew about Jared’s problem and didn’t do anything legally about the threats due to his own politics and that of Jared’s parents.

Maybe he actually let down the ball on this kid and wants to cover it up with his attack on vitriole speech.

Did they know he bought a gun? If he wasn’t employed where did he get the money for a new Glock? I presume that they knew about his brush’s with the law and the threats?

I have a lot of questions for the parents before I clear them of any responsibility. After all Obama care has made kids parents responsibilities up until age 26.

According to the Loughner’s neighbors, the whole family is a bunch of odd ducks. The parents would ignore everyday greetings by the neighbors and allegedly the house was the shabbiest on the street.

Screw the payers until we know more about who these parents are. Were they the ones filling his head with left wing BS? Were they aware of his mental state but did nothing to stop him? We know nothing at all about what happened here.

I hope, for their sakes, they did everything they could. I’m wondering if he was ever seen by a doctor.

I will pray for them. God knows they will need it. I did hear earlier that a school he attended at one time. Told the parents that he would not be allowed back to school until he had some psychiatric help. This is just what I heard, the parents pulled him out of that school instead. I don’t know where he went from there. If he was sent to private school or home schooled, or exactly what age he was.

Having someone committed isn't as easy as it once was, in fact it's almost impossible. Unless they are drooling and spewing threats whilst holding or having on their persons guns, knives and/or unlicensed prescription meds, it's almost impossible. Unless you've lived with a family member who is mentally unstable you've no idea of the constant strain and distress in the family. I feel so sorry for this young man's family, no doubt he has made their lives miserable for years and now he made it a living hell.

Holy God,

Only Your hand of truth, mercy, and grace can bring sense and healing to this horrible tragedy. We pray for these parents who are hurting and all those who have been injured or who are mourning the death of their loved one. We know that none of this was Your will but was simply the act of an angry and troubled man. Be the strength and wisdom in each heart, Lord God, as the pieces are picked up and wounded spirits move bravely through this darkness. You are the only hope in this fallen world. Be with us always and may Your presence be felt in all days to come. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer and/or psychiatry do nothing for this situation.

A length of rope would solve the problem.

That’s what I’m thinking.

He was so quick to vent vitriole on outsiders, then he admits Jared had been threatening violence - so Sheriff, why didn’t you act to get Jared some help.

We have got to change the way we deal with mentally ill and mentally unstable people in our communities. People think it is unfair to institutionalize mental patients, then those same people are shocked when one of the loonies fries a circuit and kills someone, a whole bunch of someones, or just commits suicide by cop.

It’s being reported that was at Pima Community College.

I’ve thought of his parents often since yesterday. I can’t even imagine....

I asked because, in cases like this, family members often know about the mental illness, but they close their eyes to it. You’ve seen interviews with family members of perpetrators who claim “he’s a good boy” or “he was just turning his life around” or something similar.

Now, I don’t know the family and I’m jumping to conclusions here, but I would like to know what their role was in all of this.

Ummmm, NO - I'll pass on that.
They were they ones who knew him best and should have known what he was, what he had and what he was doing and who he was involved with and maybe even what he was capable of ---- and if not them, then who.

Pray for little children with cancer. Don’t waste your prayers on some stupid parents with a crazy son.
