Having someone committed isn't as easy as it once was, in fact it's almost impossible. Unless they are drooling and spewing threats whilst holding or having on their persons guns, knives and/or unlicensed prescription meds, it's almost impossible. Unless you've lived with a family member who is mentally unstable you've no idea of the constant strain and distress in the family. I feel so sorry for this young man's family, no doubt he has made their lives miserable for years and now he made it a living hell.

I asked because, in cases like this, family members often know about the mental illness, but they close their eyes to it. You’ve seen interviews with family members of perpetrators who claim “he’s a good boy” or “he was just turning his life around” or something similar.

Now, I don’t know the family and I’m jumping to conclusions here, but I would like to know what their role was in all of this.

YES, what pepperdog said about mentally unstable family members. I tried getting a sister committed once....probably would have really helped....I was told she had actually attempt to HURT someone first...not just SAY she would. (We had written evidence where she talked of poisoning me.)

I don't.My sister was dangerous to me.She was schizo.My Mom ended up buying a cheap house for her to live in.Pot makes the voices stronger.We tried many times to commit her.At one time she was a street person.Cops knew she was a threat cause she used to be a cop.She is with God now.Call the cops and put them out.

your correct. And it was the democrats who dismantled the mental health facilities. Before teddy kennedy and his wonderful idea that it was too expensive and “mean” to committ insane people to insitutes someone like the arizona shooter might have been away from the public where he couldn’t hurt anyone.
