Over Thanksgiving, I read Sarah Palins new book, America by Heart : Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag. My first thought after finishing it? Wow, that was good. My second thought? If someone gripes about her from now on, Im going to respond,Have you read her book? When the opinionated person says, No. Im going to say back, Talk to me after youve read her book. ...
And anyone who claims to be an intellectual but refuses to engage intellectually by refusing to read her book deserves to be ignored ...
It looks like Dr. Clouthier has passed the Palinista logic test.
"While the small minded and intellectually shallow continue to wail away at Sarah Palin..."
and....
", Sarah Palin manages to write a highly philosophical book without sounding stridently ideological. Indeed, she says what most Americans believe but don't say because they have been brow beaten into politically correct silence."
In the first the author contends that nobody of any substance or intelligence could possibly object to anything Palin (and then uses the wrong word).
In the second he accomplishes two things that are pretty funny...couching Palin as "highly philosophical" (kind of a modern day Thomas Paine, de ocqueville or Descartes) and the painting of the rest of conservative Americans as cowards.
The reviewer is a doctor of chiropractic (NTTAWWT) - not of logic.
While the small minded and intellectually shallow continue to wail away at Sarah Palin, others are delving into finding out more about she who is undoubtedly having a huge impact on the political scene.
It's a sumptuous feast of irony for the writer of this stream of dreck to paint others as "small minded and intellectually shallow."
1) It's "whale away."
2) "Delving into" and "finding out more about" are the same thing. Unless the author means to convey the idea that they're looking into look into....
"She who is undoubtedly having a huge impact on the political scene" makes her sound like a female version of Voldemort.
I've seen 6th grade girls write like this about boys they like.... it's embarrassing to see a grown-up do it.
But if he was the best, then people must have recognized that he was faking.
So how did that work out for the impeached, short, bent willied one?
Wasn't Mr. "best at faking sincerity" charged with lying under oath?
Didn't he lose his law license?
Who in America, that was paying any attention, not know that he was a lying, sleazy, scumbag, piece of dogshit, that used the power of his office to get leweinskies from a dumb, young, semi-pretty, semi-fat, jewish gal named after a blowjob? {Or vice versa}.
I suppose one could say that about almost anybody.
One could say that, but it would be nowhere near the truth. Sarah Palin stands out from the crowd in every important aspect, including character, motivations, performance, public record, and life history. She's the huge sunflower popping up amongst a field of boring clover.
The author has it entirely correct. She is unlike any politician we know today. I'd say that she's a throwback who most resembles politicians of the early days of America. Not even comparisons to Ronaldus Magnus really do her justice, though those comparisons are mostly apt, in my view.
Geez these folks can't win can they.
If they say Palin is unique, you feel the need to comment.
If they compare Palin to a particular person, you feel the need to comment and even put them on a list.
LOL!
To 16 - Do you really believe that?
In taking the author’s quote literally, yes. However, I think the author is merely engaging in over-the-top cheerleading here.
It sounds like you have a lot of hope wrapped up in her.
The primary season should begin after the first of the year. During the next few months, prospective candidates will start forming exploration committees. Some might even declare their candidacy outright.
Then we’ll actually know who’s running or thinking of running.
You comment. I comment. We all comment.
Actually, it is “Governor” not Mrs. or Ms.
I'd describe it more like confidence based upon a great deal of observation. There's no question in my mind that Palin chose to run for the presidency a long time back. I think she made that choice because it's the obvious destination of her life's trajectory.
The same urge that sparked her to run for mayor of Wasilla is still at work today. She knows in her heart that she can do what needs to be done, if the people simply give her the opportunity. She will ask the people for that opportunity, and if they allow her, she will do what needs to be done to return this country to its native course.
Well, it does depend on the economy and Afghanistan and a dozen other things that have not happened yet. We will see how things stand a year from now. But no doubt she is a phenomenon, and maybe one unstopable. A very different sort of person, but very like Teddy Roosevelt in this way: she knows how to use the media. Teddy knew enough to take a motion picture camera crew with him to Cuba. And at that time, the medium was just a few years old.
