Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Thursday she objected to a photo of Rep. Michelle Bachmann in the publication Politico by suggesting its use was sexist.
The photo, used to accompany a story about GOP leadership drama, showed Bachmann having make-up applied. The accompanying article detailed how Bachmanns run for Republican Conference Chair against Rep. Jeb Hensarling is a speed bump in an otherwise smooth transition process into the House majority for the GOP.
A photo of Rep Bachmann in a Leadership article [with] the title including a drama angle showing her being made up with cosmetics?! Palin said in an e-mail to The Daily Caller.
Would they do this to a male candidate? Kinda like the Newsweek cover of me in running shorts. Kinda like all these recent articles that mention what Im wearing or not wearing, yet not one mention of anyone elses garb in the same article. It gets old, its boringly transparent, its beyond subtle, Palin said.
Politico changed out the photo for another of Bachmann later in the morning. We agreed it wasnt the best choice of photos, so we changed it, said Politico executive editor Jim VandeHei.

I disagree with Sarah.
If it’s such a problem, why do Michelle and Sarah wear make-up in the first place?
The picture itself is nothing, but not the Palin brand for feminism. One can speculate that women (who turned away in great numbers from the left this election) are noticing who is standing up for women. The big picture is not nothing for women.
Proof that sometimes exercising “shut up” is a plus. LOL
Michelle looks quite lovely actually.
I am a female and that pic doesn’t bother me one bit. Lets not use leftist BS. If some women are coming our way it isn’t because of nit picky stuff like this.
LOL. That's wrong on every possible level, but now I'm wondering too.
1) There is no such thing as a Conservative Feminist.
2) If there were, Palin would fail, as she is still under McCain’s thumb.
At least you are reasonable, thank God ;-)
I am always reasonable FRiend. Thats what gets me into trouble around here with certain people. ;^)
Actually, it’s not so trivial as you may think. What is trivial is coverage of what Sarah or Michelle is wearing. Why is it you never hear what John Boehner, or Chuck Schumer for that matter, is wearing? But always detail about Palin’s outfits?
Our body politic is becoming heavily populated with women candidates and officials. We want to hear what they are or are not doing in office, not what’s on their backs and/or feet. It’s time to stop that type coverage.
And, Politico did take down the Bachmann picture, so Palin’s comments were effective.
Misogyny much, Politico?
BOTH Not Guilty and Not Sexist.
I think Sarah is fighting fire with fire.
If all the leftists can do is hurl insults at us—racist! homophobic! misogynist! we should do the same.
Me likeee!
No trivial IMO. Sarah has taken on the task of calling the media on the carpet for its blatant sexism where women politicians are concerned. She needs to have them shamed into being more balanced in their reporting before the 2010 election. I see signs that her attacks on the media are working. Go Sarah!
Either picture was lovely. She looked very pretty election night.
The woman has guts talking to Cwissy Matthews.
Leftis BS. Put down the crack pipe and think before you post.
You can defend conservatives from media bias, or you can join the left in their efforts.
