Murkowski is a cheater, a traitor to her party, and shouldn’t be trusted

In addition to the potential theft of elected office I see in various parts of the country, the debacle in Alaska is turning my stomach. Lisa Murkowski has shown that she is unworthy of any serious consideration as an elected official. Other than democrats, I’m actually shocked that any appreciable number of Alaskans voted for her. She is the next self promoting loser in the parade of blue-blood republicans willing to do whatever it takes to stay attached to the government teat. It is behavior I expect in a liberal socialist, not a republican. Specter, Crist, and now Murkowski all put “self” above “service”.

Knowing their candidate couldn’t win, and preferring a RINO over a proven conservative, I believe a large number of democrats “crossed over” to support the Murkowski write-in candidacy. That number may be large enough to keep Miller, the conservative candidate, out of the Senate. A combination of the democrat cross-over vote, combined with the Ted Stevens republican vote may be enough to do the trick, though Ms. Murkowski’s ego is likely unable to accept that possibility.

I really can’t blame the democrats who crossed over to vote for Murky. It was a smart move on their part. I would do the same thing if the roles were reversed. If the strategy proves to be successful, they will have eliminated a principled conservative in favor of a woman who has shown to be willing to place her own ambitions above anything else. She has proven to be the type of practical politician that liberal socialists are comfortable working with in Washington, D.C. And believe me, after hiking her skirt like that, the Dems will come calling.

If Ms. Murkowski is seated, I would say to Senate republicans – beware. Though Ms. Murkowski says she will caucus with republicans, she has shown she cannot be trusted to stay within established practices and traditions. I don’t believe it a far stretch to believe she is capable of switching parties if something pretty is dangled in front of her. If she is successful in her write-in campaign, she will have cheated her party out of their candidate of choice and robbed Americans of a much needed conservative voice in Congress at a critical time.

“This doesn't exactly make her a “cheater” though, does it?”

If you are referring to her accepting the cross-over democrat vote, no, that's not cheating. The article reads like the author takes exception to her willingness to deprive a candidacy resulting from a republican primary process because she didn't like the results. I think she is called a cheater because she “cheated” the majority of republicans (as in primary voting republicans)out of their chosen candidate. In effect, we had the republican primary all over again, this time with democrats allowed to vote in it. Thus the cheater referance.

The two parties do not own America and we need to stop acting like they do, even when it elects someone we don't like.

Then why didn't she pull a Crist and run as an Indy?

Why has she claimed she is a Republican all these years and run as a Republican for write-in?

Maybe your comments here should be directed to her.

God Help Mitch McConnell if he accepts Murkowski in the Republican caucus! Let her survive as a Democrat.

I think she has burned that “Bridge to nowhere”. I’m betting she will leave the Republican Party as soon as is practical for her.

We have to deal with her, and make SURE she opposes the DREAM amnesty during lame duck. I liked Joe Miller, but he royally screwed up by fighting tooth and nail the release of his work records until the week before the election, when he should have just revealed all that on a Friday afternoon after he won the primary.

Isn't that what elections are all about? Voting for the candidate that you think will serve you the best? It seems that you are arguing that Democrats did just that... and for doing so, they are wrong.

The point is that Murkowski was wrong. She essentially ran as a dem to get elected and should be regarded as a dem from here on out. I don't blame dems for voting for one of their own.

Many Republicans crossed over to vote for Lieberman in Connecticut. In fact, I know numerous FREEPERS were hoping that Lieberman won (I don't think the Republican was that good that year or had little chance) but did not want the Democrat that was running at all. I am not from Alaska so I have no dog in the fight but it seems that enough folks wanted her in the Senate again. I am a proud Pennsylvania which did a great job this election.

Didn't we cheerlead just a few years ago with NY-23 didn't like the Republican who won the election fair and square but we did not like the candidate so we ran our own conservative and gave loads of money but he ended up losing and the Democrat won, but I don't remember any complaining about the Republican winning being fair. We did the same thing in Colorado when we didn't like the Republican candidate and ran Tancredo but the Dem won. We do this all the time. What is the problem? We lose more than we win when we do this.

1. She didn’t cheat the primary system. She lost the primary. In order for her to win in the general, she would have to win a crazy write-in vote, which is extremely rare.

2. To quote you, she cannot be trusted, other than to act in her own self-interest.

We won’t suffer half as much as the Alaskans will. They voted for her and they’ll get what they paid for.

Because she is a filthy rat liar politician. I'm not defending her. Alaskans have the same rights as Kalifornians. They can all elect idiots to represent them.
