A personal legend and icon to the author, Clint Eastwood speaks his mind. Eastwood to me is the civilian version of Lt. Gen. Harry W.O. Kinnard who famously responded to the Germans "Nuts" when they demanded his surrender at the 1944 Battle of the Bulge. When Eastwood spoke of Spike Lee "A guy like him should shut his face." He was referring to Spike Lee's criticism of his Film "Flags of Our Fathers," which chronicled the men who raised the flag on Iwo Jima for not having any African American Actors. Eastwood acknowledges there was a detachment of African American soldiers on Iwo Jima during the battle, but they were not the ones who raised the flag, and to add them to the tale would be historically inaccurate. He stated the movie is called "Flags of our Fathers", because it tells of the famous raising the flag and the men who raised it.

feeling presidential, punk?
I’ll BET eastwood voted for obama
Clint: Look out the window....It’s the IRS eavesdrop van.
Clint does have a way with words.
You'd lose.
His Sgt., played by Sam Elliot, says, "Custer was a pussy. You're not."
I do not think so. He talks different then he lives.
Kinnard? Not Anthony MacAuliffe? Hmmm, this revisionism problem is worse than I’d thought...
Clint Eastwood :”I’m not a fan of Obama”
That’s racist!
As if anyone needed to say it: Eastwood rules....
Yep. Revisionism at work here. But a better revision would have been
“... Lt. John M. Kerry who famously responded to the Germans “Nuts” in Cambodia on Christmas in 1970.”
“Custer was a pussy. You’re not.”
Forgot that line. Great. A good laugh, thanks.
“Obama, GET OFF MY LAWN”
One of the very few Mel G movies I could tolerate and easily watch.
60+ years after Pearl Harbor, my Grandfather still wouldn't buy Japanese cars.
When my aunt (his daughter) purchansed a Mitsubishi, he gently kidded her about parking it out back when she visited. He was only teasing, but not really.
America has gotten too obsessed with "moving on". There's nothing wrong with a good grudge, IMHO.
Didn’t Gen Obama hold the stonewall during Pickett’s charge? My mind is just getting fuzzy.
I enjoyed "The Patriot". Do you choose your family, or your principles? Gibson played that character pretty well, I thought.
He was OK in "Signs", too. I guess that he does best in roles where he plays the tragic hero.
does google monitor free republic? was trying to find the movie quote from we were soldiers and first hit on google.
I typed youre get off lawn quote and it was first hit.
