Maybe NOW the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will finally acknowledge what so many others have know for a long time: The Doobie Brothers deserve to be entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At this point, it's as much to establish credibility for the HOF as it is to honor the Doobies. The public KNOWS they deserve to be there. It's the nominating committee that has to get their act together...
Check out this article for more info and to see several knockout videos by the Doobies!
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don’t care what they may say
I don’t care what they may do
I don’t care what they may say
Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don’t care what they may know
I don’t care where they may go
I don’t care what they may know
Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus, he’s my friend; Jesus, he’s my friend
He took me by the hand; Led me far from this land
Jesus, he’s my friend
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don’t care what they may say, I don’t care what they may do
I don’t care what they may say, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
After that breathless thread posting I can only presume that “BigChiefLtd” is the FR handle of one of the Doobie Brothers.
Nice to see the Tom Johnson version of the Doobies rather than Michael McDonald version.
Jack Colton: [picking up a magazine]
Dammit man, the Doobie Brothers broke up!
Shit! When did that happen?
Joan Wilder: How long have you been down here?
Jack Colton: Forever.
Big Doobies fan from back in the day, before the Michael McDonald version, Stampede is still one of my all-time favorite albums.
Doobie is a strange family name. The brothers must have been stoked up about it.
Awesome. Looking forward to hearing it.
However, put on some Eric Burdon / War, and really get your kicks.
I do love it all though. Thanks for the heads up.
Made a beeline to his mic, but missed the entrance by about 3 or 4 seconds. Funny, the backup vocals never changed. They were in perfect tune, just like a studio recording.
And therein lies the problem, folks. All the backup vocals were canned.
Poseurs.
They didn’t show Michael McDonald and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter in the old clips...I hope there’s no bad blood...
(ahem) I was a young guy then.
I have the Best of the Doobies 2 album, still unopened in the original plastic.
Never understood this glaring omission.
Thanks for the tip. ‘Nobody’ is a kick ass tune. Not bad for a bunch of old dudes. Hope that tune is representative of the rest of it.
I love the Doobie Brothers, and have since circa 1972.
...On the other hand, who the hell cares about the Rock and Roll “Hall of Fame”?
The building and displays are cool, but “induction”? What a pathetic joke!
“Induction” is basically the gay(er), even more politically correct version of the “Nobel Peace Prize”. Wenner and the rest of the silly hot-tubbers who come up with these induction annointments from on high are at least as much a laughingstock as the Oslo crowd that handed a Nobel prize to Ubama. As they play with themselves in public they actuallt believe the world is laughing with them, not at them.
But hey, love the Doobies!
